Yup! Understandable.

By bringing them in you compromise lip size.

Wish ccw made a slightly thinner mounting pack to allow more lip without pushing out the wheel. But I guess ccw pushed it as far as the can without compromising safety.

Looking at the yellow car in the last post, it is obvious that the way those wheels have wider lips is because they stick out of the wheelwells. If you're willing to accept that, sure then you can have as wide a lip as you want. If you want a tire mounted properly and not sticking out then you have to accept certain limiting factors governing exactly what size lips you will wind up with. The only way to have wide lips without sticking out is have a different design wheel or making major modifications to narrow the width of the suspension mounting points of the wheel hub surfaces.

I think the 12" rear with 3" lip looks absolutely fantastic. No other way to go in my opinion.

I know everyone wanted to hump Ivan's car after he put those stretched ccw on the rear of his silver car. It's not just a import thing and it looks killer!!! Can't wait to see the new ones man!!!

Can someone explain to me the concept of the stretched tire look? I researched it and it seems it originated in Japan? I fully understand the offset/ stance/ lip width perspective, but why run a "stretched" tire? What's so ugly about a regular tire?

The offset of my set up won't allow for a wider tire. It would end up rubbing on the inside and the tire would stick out like an auto cross car.
That's why ccw recommended running a narrow tire to make it work.

It's not intentional at all. The stretch actually isn't horrible like the stance ****. I can handle some of those nicely put together BMW's but I agree ridiculous stretch is ****ing ridiculous lol

Not classics, but here is how my car looked with a 275/30 on a 11" wide wheel. The fronts had 245/35 on 10" wide wheels. Wish I hadn't sold this set.

Chris, the reason people run stretched tires is that it allows them to run very aggressive offsets and still tuck tire. If you notice, the sidewall of the tire is no longer vertical but rather at an angle. This pulls the tire in enough to clear the fender.

Just for reference, my 2001 GS430 has an 19x10 24mm. I installed a 265-35-19 in the rear. The tire rubbed the fender to the point where it was embarrassing to drive (keep in mind that my fender lips are completely shaved off). I had to install a 255-35-19 (same Continental brand) and it pulled the sidewall in just enough to clear under all conditions. I wasn't going for the stretched look intentionally as I have the big square muscle car tire look engrained in my taste, but it was my only option to get everything to clear with those particular rims and ride height. Similar to the silver/yellow cars above with the stretched tires, it had to be done for everything to clear at their ride height.

Of course if you have a 4 finger gap in the rear, then you have a lot of room to run aggressive offsets and whatever the hell tire you want and still clear. But if the stance is on point, there's little room for error.

255-35 on a 19x10 on the rear of my Lexus is obviously a stretched look:

The stretched look is typically an import style, so the domestic guys will always catch flack from the crowd for doing it. However, if your car is low, and you want deep CCW lips, you have no choice but to run rims that stick out and you will have to stretch tire to get everything to clear. No other choice (aside from running wide body fenders or keep the fender gap huge like on the rear of your car).

Wish I had more info on my classics, but as I traded for them I have absolutely zero. I was a little freaked out to open a random CF thread and see my car and pictures plastered all over LOL. It's all good though.

Edit: Oh yea my car in the first few several pics is lowered all the way on stock bolts. The rears sit flush with the fender but the rears stick out 1/4 to 1/2 an inch. Fronts I believe are 17x10.5. They do rub the control arms on both sides are full lock. The rears are for sure 17x12. No rubbing etc but as mentioned before they do stick out a bit. I love them though.

thanks for posting pics of your car and doing that setup .

after buying a used set of Classics from this forum and getting screwed over with fitment and overall finish of the wheels . i ended up copying your setup lol .

had to get some custom hub centric spacers(20mm) machined so the front wheels didn't hit the upper control arm in the front . also had to run a small spacer in the rear(3mm) so the inner barrels didn't hit the leaf spring . the wheels got a major clean up and painted the centers flat silver .when doing all this decided to changed all the bolts to ARP 12 points bolts .cause the original bolts and nuts where all rusted . overall really happy with the fitment now and look

18x11.5

Definitely the look I am going for, just not that low for handling purposes. Not sticking out either. Well done!
