Default Windshield weatherstrip

Why are there no aftermarket companies making the windshield weatherstrip for a C5? The price for an OEM replacement is absolutely ridiculous! I can't for the life of me understand how a molded piece of foam rubber like material can cost 5 to 6 hundred bucks! Steele Rubber or someone needs to step up and help us poor C5 owners and I will be poor after purchasing that weatherstrip!

Just venting,
Tim

When demand is high enough, vendors will offer replacements. No company will invest in development of products where the return on investment is too low. There just aren't that many C5's needing replacements right now. The number of C5's as a percentage of cars on the road is miniscule, so don't expect an aftermarket replacement soon.

I understand and I hear you. It's too bad that when you have to replace the windshield you have to replace the weatherstrip too. It becomes a quite expensive windshield replacement.

Do you not have windshield coverage on your insurance under the comprehensive policy? And if so, won't they cover the weatherstripping too if it is required to be replaced at the same time?

Just curious. I would agree that $500 for that part is pretty expensive.
