I can't figure out why people who know that a front plate is required still blame a police officer for giving them a ticket. I'd wager a well-educated guess that someone who receives a ticket for distracted driving would also feel it's a waste of time.

You should have said "I'm embarrassed Officer. Not because you lawfully pulled me over for the absence of a front plate, but solely by the looks of that ridiculous clown car you pulled me over with. Can you at least go park it somewhere else while we settle our business? Its rather humiliating for me, I can only imagine how you feel riding around in it all day."

See how that works out. Hahaha

Those "flip up deals" are also illegal in Texas.

Toque did a clever paint job and license plate trim job using a clear bumper cover. I'd provide a link but his site is down atm for some reason.

Well being in Texas like Toque where they require a front plate I went 9 yrs not having one on my '01 without a problem until it was sold in '09. Got my current '04 last year and don't have one on it currently with no problems ... but since the state put more teeth into the law with now a $200 fine (at least no points since not a moving violation) don't wanna but I guess I'll probably break down and put one on after I receive my specialty plate I ordered - plus put on a 'molded clear' cover like Zip products sells to maybe make front a 'little' smoother. I like Toque's solution but don't have all the resources like him to make a cover. This is my plate I ordered ..

Yeah sorry..I meant Toque...I was going by memory

I was on my way to my first car show.. He pulled out his law book and it said you werent allowed to modify, bend or alter your front # plate.

No stickers either...When I pointed out that under those guidelines I couldnt fit a plate he suggested I build some brackets.

When I pointed out he really was just being a $#%@! he got his knickers in a twist and called backup...another cop car arrived on the scene.

He didnt know I wandered across the road to take the photo..

fine $130

It was an old guy who thought he was the man.. He was just doing his job I agree...and I was meant to have a plate, that I agree... but I think he was having a bad day and wanted to share it.

These things are such BS in any country...

Please spare me the "doing his job" BS too....I wonder how many people he past doing 1 mile over the speed limit and didn't pull them....geez....

Like he'd be able to read your front plate if you were speeding by him....

Another little man with a badge....

When I pulled up at the 4-way sign and he's just sitting there before I reach it, almost like he's goading me in to not yielding so I wave him through. He swings around lights me up and the first thing he says is "is this your car?"

And then starts mocking me. Yeah that young cop can go flip himself. Some cops are good but definitely not all. Maybe he can save my life some day or something whatever.

Edit: The funny thing is literally 2 minutes earlier I got some young punk ricers revving at me. Lol positive karma there, and why do all the ricers look the same?

Why give the cop a reason to pull you over. If it's the law then you did something wrong. Are we that vein to think a plate on the front makes your car look bad?

Obviously.

It looks SOOOOO BAD that it's worth breaking the law on a daily basis.

Run for office or at least complain to your elected officials if you don't like the law.

Sorry to hear that Outlawtorn. I believe a front plate makes our cars look like it has rat teeth. I've asked this before, why is it required on a car, but not on a motorcycle?????

I couldn't agree more. I've been driving now for nearly 50 years. When I purchased my Corvette 14 years ago I was well aware that Illinois requires two license plates. I made a cognizant decision not to display a front plate because I don't like the look, knowing full-well what the consequences could be.

The BS in this country today is created by adults (key word) who knowingly (another key word) make decisions that impact their lives, and then blame someone else for their woes. There's a very simple solution to this problem and we (myself included) all know what it is.

Here in North Carolina we are all dangerous criminals as none of us are required to have front plates! Heck, we even carry concealed hand guns! It's down right un safe here, That's why we have a low crime rate. The hard core criminals are afraid of us!

We've been complaining for years, and have had legislation in play but it keeps getting shot down.

It is a complete waste of time and tax payer dollars. It is nothing more than tax collecting.
