LS7 in C5Z
I was wondering, for those of you who have an LS7 in your C5Z, have you ever topped it out? I know that the C6Zs top out at 198 MPH and I was wondering what the C5Z would do with the same engine? I know there's different factors like aerodynamics and gearing that would affect the top speed, but I was just wondering what the top speed would be with an LS7 in the car?

C5Z's are gear limited to about 180 even with raised rev limiter.
With a taller tire or 3.15 rear gear I have no doubts about breaking 200 mph, many C5's have already achieved that.

Thanks for the reply. By the way, that's an awesome Z you have! I just started my search for a Speedway White Z, it's my new favorite car!

There are just to many variables. A car that has an LS7 probably has a slew of other mods. My tire size, trans gears, rear diff and rev limiter are all changed now. My top speed is now in 6th gear as an example.

Unfortunately, I can't say for certain what my top speed would be. With C6 Z06 ratios in a TR6060 trans and a 3.90 rear, my top speed in 5th is right around 180mph and it gets there stupidly fast. With this trans and a stock 3.42 rear I have no doubt it would top 200 easily. Best would probably be C6 ZR1 trans and rear end ratios if you want to see the top speed. With similar RWHP as my car, the stock ZR1 does 205mph, so I'd expect similar results from my car, maybe a tad higher without the wide body and potential benefits from being NA vs. SC.
