Default Front License Plate

I have a 2004 with no front license plate area. I also live in one of the 34 or so states that require them. I'm curious as to what others have done to make this as little of an eye sore a's possible. Im considering a retractable one from Mid America.

http://www.toquez06.com/plate.html[/That is pretty impressive. I like it thanks. Mine is a bit different in that you had a place for that front plate to go. My car doesn't even have a front license plate spot on the bumper. I don't want to block air intake or make it look like crap. Like it should never have been there. In any event, I have to take another look at that project because it is giving me some ideas. Thanks again

In some states, like Texas (now), those are illegal. I would check first.

I'm curious as to what kind of front end you have that doesn't have the plate cover/area? I assume it's something aftermarket. Let's see a pic.

All C5's have a spot for front plates underneath the 'Corvette' cover.

Keep in mind that it's illegal in some states to cover a license plate, even when the cover is clear. Illinois is one of those states.

A guy in our group showed a local police officer and a state Trooper the plate and they both said there was nothing wrong with it., but as is in any thing there probably is some officer following every law to the exact word.
I've had mine on for several months and have had no issues. I think they would be harder on the no plate vs covered plate.

I agree. All C5 came with a removable cover under which you can mount a license plate.

Looks like a Tiger Shark bumper, which didn't have a place for a plate. You'll have to fabricate some sort of bracket, or get a retractable.

That sure looks like a tiger shark front end.

Yup... that's a TigerShark front bumper.

This is the style I would go with if I had a C6 or a TigerShark front bumper.

Retractable plate holders are illegal to both own and sell in Texas. At least until they get around to changing the wording of the law.

I am in Colorado. Here front plates are also required. I don't have one on my car and never had an issue. I did get pulled over on a late Saturday night (DUI "fishing") and the funny thing is that the cop did not even mention my lack of front plate, but gave me a warning to remove the clear plastic cover on my rear one. I really laughed at that one.

Yet in the past 12 years I've been stopped five times for not having a front plate.

That just goes to show that it's only a matter of time.

The problem with clear plastic license plate covers is that they turn "milky" after extended exposure to the elements. There's a guy in our neighborhood who has one on the front of his car that's so discolored you can't read the plate. You're probably right about it being better than no front plate at all.

I didn't know that about Illinois.

I have been running a clear cover for several years. I guess I have been lucky to not get stopped.
