[Z06] Price check 2002 Z

Price check 2002 Z
The car is at a local dealer. I'm not a big silver fan but I am tempted. Car has 18.6k miles and they are asking 25.9.
What do you think is a good price for the car? Far as I can tell it is stock and in decent shape.

most dealers have no interest in doing this. no money in it for them
it's not so much the c5 market is soft, it's more that the cars have shifted into the 12-18k range. there are a lot of nice driver grade cars, especially 01+ cars that sell in this price range pretty easily. the top end of the c5 market, the low mile $20k+ cars seem to sit longer as you need to find a specific buyer and you're getting into c6 money.

I honestly think it depends on your specific area of the country. $23k-$25k is a very reasonable dealer price, to me.
Nearly all of the Z's I looked at in CA were $2k to $3k higher than the rest of the country (same years, mileage, condition).

c5 z06s and verts have actually moved a few hundred higher in most every case since jan 1 of this year. the only cars that are under pressure are the 97-00 cars and high mileage auto coupes of all years.
lot of things go into the speed a car sells. the c5 is somewhat of a niche car as it is so they tend to be harder to sell than say a wrx that can be an all purpose car that appeals to a broad audience.
we have a few dealers on the forum that have posted closes from time to time. you can also check ebay completed. keep in mind these may not be mint cars, may have issues and you really don't know what will need to be repaired. it's not uncommon at all for a dealer to have to drop a grand into an auction purchase

Well drove the car and loved it. Car had some problems such as the windshield was replaced and they did a terrible job. The weather stripping was also very nasty. Dealer said he would not budge on the price.
I told him I would do 22 and to call me if they would accept it.

did the car sit outside a lot?
sounds like you made a fair offer. that weatherstrip and a new window aren't cheap
dealer is nuts asking above retail for a car that needs repairs

When I was looking for a Z, I found that dealers didn't want to budge. I talked to probably four or five. All the Zs had less than 40k miles. One was 25,500 with 25,000 miles (which I know sold), one was 24,900 with almost 40k (sold), one was 24900 with around 30k (was in subpar condition, not sure if they sold or wholesaled). I ended up buying one in the color combo I wanted for 24,500 otd.. Definitely paid a little more than what I could have with a private seller, but there weren't any private deals local that I was really interested in.

One thing I noticed was when I got second the rear end slid out pretty quick and the car was stock. I know that they put a dressing on the tires and I'm wondering if the car has traction problems that bad stock, or if they maybe just went heavy on the dressing and got it on the tread.I'm thinking the later is more likely.
