Help failed CA emissions because I dn't have a carb sticker??
My 99 vette has a SLP blackwing installed by the previous owner at some point. Went to smog it for registration today and passed everything but because i dont have a sticker I fail?? Is my only option to spend 500 bucks on a new intake or try to find a used one in the week i have before the registration is due? Hope you guys an help me!!

The Blackwing is not CARB legal in CA. Only K&N and Calloway Honker have CARB id's. Your best bet is to find a stock air cleaner, install it, get re-tested (pass), then put the Blackwing back on

This is the part most manufacturers forget to tell purchasers.
I read about a lot of mods done to cars but hardly any mention of passing the various smog tests. I suppose almost everyone whose car is not stock do not live in the 16 states which are CARB.
If you do live in one of those states please go to the following website to make sure the parts you have added to your car are CARB legal;

I plan to leave CA at some point but the Corps puts me here. I'm stationed on Camp Pendleton if anyone within a day trip driving distance wants to help me out with a stock airbox to borrow I'd really appreciate it. This is the first time I've had to smog a vehicle in CA as I always brought my own from out of state. Damn hard and expensive lesson to learn possibly. My registration is up on the 2nd so I might have to bite a 400 dollar bullet for a K&N that's CA approved.

Shoot me an email when you're ready. The drive is about 80 miles I think, 5 north to 605 north to Whittier Blvd. gets you within 1 mile of my place.
My email is sales at scumbackspeakers.com or you can get my phone # off my site. Anytime after 8 am is fine to call.

I'd just contact K&N/Calloway and get me a carb sticker and slap it on my Blackwing. Bet they'd never know the difference

I've never had a smog shop fail me because of my black wing before... Its not worth it for an intake, but I think there are some areas of San Diego county that you can register and not have to smog your car.

To The Sarge: Thanks for your service to our country. And thanks to ScumOne for offering to help you out. Sounds like he is NOT a ScumBag.
Please post how it works out. Mr. Sam

There are plenty of vette owners in Cali that would be happy to help out a man serving his country and loan you their stock assembly for a day.
Check here http://forums.corvetteforum.com/southern-california-45/
Maybe someone at West Coast Corvettes in Anaheim can help.
