Default coupe to hardtop FRC conversion

OK so I ve always loved the look of the z06/frc body but just never found one in my price range when I was looking so I ended up with a 99 coupe. sebring silver. I have gone through a few motor swaps and the car is very modified and driven very little. close to 500 rwhp all motor. probably more with the new setup. Anyway I looked into the conversion and ive read that a few members have done it. But most of the threads I have read don't give much detail about what is required or the process. What I do now is that I will need
* FRC/z06 roof section
* rear glass
* rear quarters
* trunk
I know the list gets longer as far as replicating the interior of an actual coupe or z06 with carpet, a pillars, latches, panels. im mostly interested in the outside appearance. In the past threads it was mostly said that the conversion wasn't worth it because the cost was outrageous. I can get all the main parts I listed for well under a grand so I figured why not look into it. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I say go for it, this project should not be to hard to do esp. if you have the ability to all the fab work your self

yeah, that's an easy conversion just start unbolting/cutting/torching everything coupe-ish and put it back together with hardtop parts..shouldn't take more than one weekend tops

Contact Tony (ajg1915)for advice. He's a great person and has all the wisdom needed when it comes to what's under the surface of the C5.

map out the cost of the parts + paint + shop for anything you can't do before you buy anything

have the feeling you could sell your car and buy an FRC for less or similar money

usually isn't too hard to find a 100k mile 01 z06 for 15k either

^^^ What racebum said... You might be ultra turned off with the car before you get close to being done...

If you do it keep us posted and we will cheer you on... I just think I would have to find one already done and the money saved you could targa the FRC or something... Heck a ton of other mods... Tony got rid of his project and currently has a SWZ06

Good luck whatever you decide!

Well I have considered buying one but not at the expense of starting all over as far as stock engine, trans or near stock power level. I d like to retain my engine setup and I would need to basically buy the z06/frc and have my car at the same time to demod and swap the parts onto the z06/frc. Ive seen a few decent ones for 12-13 grand for a frc.
I probably cant attain the financing for the a used z06/frc since they are too old. I could probably buy one cash but don't wanna deplete my savings.
