It's really simple to repair. You have to remove the complete console rear to front to get the controller out. It disassembles easily. Just resolder all joints carefully with a small iron and reassemble everything. That's all there is to it. If any of the bulbs are out, you can buy them from Radio Shack, I did.

Im on the 4th HVAC control in the car....one when built, and 3 replacements. all of which were solder reflowed several times to keep them working, until they finally just quit. The product life cycle engineers at GM should be able to calculate my milage from that! Hint...its over 170K and less than 190K PS, had one main computer fail too....so far nothing in mechanical failures, and about $4000 in electical parts.

We bought the Corvette Coupe new from dealer in February 2004. This is the clubs meeting spot before departing on fun runs. This day COCSD was gathering for a Valentines run and we were there with our 72, with a little time on our hands we were looking at the new Corvettes. Then we made the mistake of test driving one. After the test drive I said “If you can have this ready for us to take on the run we will buy it.” The sales man said “That’s less the 20mintues!” “I guess you better make this quick!” Here we are 2 months shy of 10 years and turning over 200k miles on the odometer. Anyone who knows us will tell you these are not pampered easy freeway miles either. We have taking it to the 1/8 mile drags at Qualcomm and packed loads of camping gear in the rear hatch. The only things I have done to it as far mods are the Z06 Ti exhaust, cut larger opening in the stock air box, and a dyno tune (This is the wife’s daily driver.) Overall the car has performed great and just normal wear items you would expect to be replaced, most have been mentioned already. The AC compressor lasted to 150K and when I replaced it I replaced the water pump seeing as I had to take it off to get to the compressor out anyways. Looking forward to hitting 300k! These cars are made to be driven so take that cover off and pull it into the sunlight, you will both be happier for it.

Bought my 99 Convert, 6-speed with 64,000 miles. Now, 3yrs later it has 101,000. Clutch now going out, also "Active Handling" light has been on for the last 10,000 miles and nobody can fix. Supposely the steering wheel positioning sensor is the problem and can't be bought. Still runs good and looks sharp. I drive it almost everyday the weather permits.

I've got 201k on my '98 convertible. Runs like a scalded cheetah. Only real problem has been a failed EBCM module and rear main seal leak. Other than that I've had no issues and love my 10 grand purchase.

I put over 70,000 miles on my C4, and had it in over 25 states. Lots of golf trips to Colorado, Sebring, Florida, and the western Rockies.
I plan to eclipse those numbers on my 2003 C5. Planning lots of long trips; and daily driving in between.

Man, some good looking DD's out there. I think I've put almost 5k on mine and I've had it about 2 months now. I hope to have the stereo ready to go in a month and I will do steel brake lines, new fluid and pads before spring. At 80k it seems like the clutch will be due soon, I don't think I will try to do it myself, but the rest of the stuff mentioned so far is no issue.

Just turned 85,000 today on my '99 that I bought 20 months ago with 68,000 on it. 17,000 in just over a year and a half, driven daily, rain, snow, or shine. As a matter of fact, it snowed all the way home today for about forty miles, and performed perfectly. Driving these cars in the snow is no real trick. Just don't drive like an ***-hat!!!!
Northern Colorado.....no salt used on the roads here!!!!! Just sand and plows and good road maintenance!!!
My last '99 had over 85,000 on it too when I let it go for financial reasons.
Not a problem with either!! This one does need an oil pressure sensor as of very recently. No biggie.

Just hit 80k on mine. It was purchased brand new in 2002 and passed down to me. Been very well taken care of. As long as you do the routine scheduled maintenance then it will run strong for a long time.
My only major gripes with the vehicle so far are:
-EBCM relay fail (due to cold solders. Fixed it myself).
-Climate control temp indicator dim/fail (due to cold solders. Fixed it myself).
-HUD washout/flicker/fail (Still working on isolating the issue).
-Leaky diff seal (common issue. Will change seal at next fluid change).
-Clock Spring fail (due to break in a bend in the ribbon cable. Fixed myself).
Other than that, it's been a fantastic car for a daily driver. Love it.

Those CCW's look great! Why'd you decide to get rid of them?

2001 Z06 bought in May 2012 with 13900 on it, parked it in October 2013 with 30K on it. It's truly my summer daily driver until there's snow in the forecast, I have 2 other vehicles but I can never pass up a chance to drive the Vette Retired or not, I don't know how people can stand to own one and only put a few hundred miles on each year
