I have an Elite Engineering Catch Can on my car and it is a great product. Easy install and it does a really good job of keeping oil from entering the intake area. If you are in the market for a catch can, an EE one is a very good choice.

Just purchased a red Elite Can last week for the 418. Looking forward to seeing how well it performs.

Just ordered my Elite. While I had the air cleaner assembly removed I stuck my finger in the throttle body and there was oil....

Most people do not realize on the C5s, you will see that a lot. GM made a slight improvement on the C6 but even in the C7 thread the Z06, it still happens.

A catch can is not a "mod" in my opinion. It is an essential needed part. Kinda like you need tires. You need this part and should invest in one.

Wanted to add, if any of you have ANY catchcan installed and want to complete your system, add the Elite Billet cleanside separator!!! app. 1/2 the price of GM's plastic 1LE unit, and billet with coalescing media chamber.

Mine as installed by ECS - they did a great job and with all the other tuning we've been doing (aka 6250 shots) I'm sure there's some in there aready. This is aluminum with nickel-plate fittings...

I can vouch that the cospeed unit is high quality. I went with the dual vacuum single feed unit (3 lines) for blower use.

To answer the question above about a bracket for use with A@A brackets, I used the offset (bent) bracket. Placement is not perfect due to headers, but it works. I'd love an option that can tuck it as tight as possible to the back of the blower head unit and as far forward of any exhaust pipes as possible... This will also allow the can to mount lower and take better advantage of gravity feed where right now it is about level with the top of the head unit.

Q: what size thread fitting would I need if I wanted to install a permanently attached drain tube?

Per Evil-Twin: Funny how Corvettes have been around for 63 years and not one of them comes with a catch can... Untouched LSX motors can see 400K and none of the people I know with a 300K or 400K LSX have a catch can.
Corvette people will buy anything because it logically seems like a good idea.. WE ran 200K on our engine mules, took them apart, and hit every factory critical spec... Not one had a Catch can.

Just thought anyone thinking about buying a catch can may want to read from someone that designed the engines.

You got to love the 3 sentence quote. Why did you even bother posting this?

Yes GM said the same thing about nothing being wrong with the LS rockers needle bearings spewing out and the OEM harmonic balancers being wobbly and coming loose on these LS engines. LOL.

I would do more research before just quoting some statements and passing it along but please do it elsewhere, this is a sales thread. There are plenty of tech threads regarding the oil catch can for LS engines.

Understand your point and not trying to say no to buying. But, there are others that have difference of opinions on this catch can. And it is especially important if it is someone that was part of the engine design and testing. That is my research. But as always, the choice is always to the owners whether they need a can or not.
