Last photos of '13 for me
{Hint: scroll to the bottom for the actual last pictures of the year}
Round 1:
Earlier this year I had put on a set of Iforged classics, but was unhappy with too much bling:
Round 2:
So, to alleviate some of the painful bling I thought I'd try some gold plastidip. I always liked gold wheels on red cars. Three coats vintage gold, with 2 coats gold metalizer and 2 coats gloss later this is what I had (sorry for poor quality BB pics):
While I really did like the look, and it did look amazing watching it going down the road, the center spoke arrangement really didn't lend itself to gold. The gold lips did look nice though. Didn't curb the bling, and seemed a bit ghetto, but if done professionally I think that I could get behind it. If I had to do it again, I'd try rose gold.
After some painful days pealing the gold off, I broke down and bought the plastidip remover. (Warning: only use in a well ventilated area and try not to inhale the remover - it will burn your lungs out.)
Round 3:
Then I figured I'd try going to the dark side. Needless to say, I think I've officially crossed over. I'm considering having them done over the winter and making them permanent. The pastidip isn't quite gloss black. It's not flat, more like super-dark charcoal gray with semi-gloss finish. I think it really helps hide the 25 series sidewall in the back. So without further adieu, the final shots of 2013 before she goes to sleep.
And for anyone who made it this far, here is a shot of me going under the bridge at mid-ohio on labor day (wearing stockers, picture taken with a potato obviously):
Thanks for lookin' happy hibernation!

The "Bling" looked a bit striking and black receives my overall "thumbs up".
Too bad you're preparing for winter. I was rolling with the AC on today.

Thanks for the supportive input, surprised no negative comments on the gold yet
Anyway regarding the 4x4, it's not as bad as many of the pictures would indicate:
I actually don't think I want her much lower than that.
For the requested stock wheel shots, I thought I'd spice it up, stock w/o centercaps at the track:
Is that the Stig in my passenger seat???? .
One more fun shot, two C5's doing the dance:

Out of them all I think the chrome looked the best on your car, Gold just don't fit with a red car and you know how I feel about black.

I like the bling, the gold is unique and looks decent and while I am not usually a black guy myself, I like this one. I have actually warmed up to lots of black wheels recently. I try to stay open minded and not get old and set in my ways.

I like the original looks the wheels had, but will say the black looks much better than the gold.

Yes sir, all the way. I think the crazy low profile rubber makes the gap look bigger than it is. If you look again at the shot while she's rolling, doesn't look 4x4 at all (IMO)...
