Default Anyone have their coupe tuned?

A mechanic said he could tune my 03 coupe, giving it about 25 hp and other improvements. Anyone care to share their tuning thoughts.

I had mine tuned but only after installing headers. I know a couple guys that did it stock and picked up about 12hp but that was about it.

Auto or manual? IF you have an Auto the best thing you can do would be getting it tuned. Adjusts shift points and makes the throttle more responsive. Chuck COW and others here offer great tunes.

Not sure $400 is worth 12hp
He also said he could eliminate the skip shift. I'm not sure what else, if any.

I've had my '98 dyno tuned several times. I'd say that picking up 25 rwhp on a stock C5 is a bit of a stretch.

It will drive better but 25 hp is not alot to expect from a tune.

Is was very happy with my tune, it woke my 02 Coupe.
Changed auto trans shift points and pressures, changed eng. parameters, cooling fans cut in temps etc. cheap nope that said it changed the whole characteristics of my coupe.

My first C5 was 100% stock. Second C5 had a after market air filter and a tune. I was surprised. The best way I can describe it is the accelaration is more immediate/instant. I don't race or drive THAT fast but 3rd gear is when I knew my first C5 didn't run like this one

Skeptical that you'll pick up 25 hp with a stock car, but you will notice a definite improvement in the way the car responds.

My car is a manual. Are the improvements talked about about for both auto and manual.

I have long tubes, x-pipe, cat back, and a black wing on my "99" automatic coupe. it dynode out to 321 rwhp so I don't really know how much I gained at the fly wheel. Any guess?

No. As others have mentioned you'd see a few benefits with an automatic such as shift points, fans, etc. I'm not sure it would be worth the money for a stock 6-speed, but that's your decision. I had mine dynoed years ago before I started modding it to determine a base line.

You will not notice any real HP gains BUT, your car will overall run better and feel faster with all the BS factory crap adjusted or removed!

I was pleased when I had my first stock tune changed! Car felt great!

I would speculate approximately 370 hp.

Sure, as many aftermarket modifications almost require a tune.

I went from stock to intake/exhaust plus gears 2.73's to 3.42's a Yank 3500 stall and a RPM LevelIV transmission, so yes it got tuned.

Thank you.

If you're looking for a really good tune for your Corvette, please give me a call.

I'd like to know about the mods you've made and what you do with the car....

I'm seeing all different numbers on here, but in reality a flash tune on a stock coupe will definitely allow to make various changes as already mentioned on other post here, and it will wake the car up, but usually only gives a small HP overall. After I installed street headers at Carlisle and had ECS tune it again, I was running right around 312 HP to the wheels. I thought there would be a little more but to get to the bigger numbers you'll need a larger intake, cam, NOS, TB or SC.

My '04 C5 Coupe with Corsa Pace Car (Sport) exhaust, Blackwing intake, and NGK TR55 plugs gave me 324 rwhp @ 5350 rpm & 346 rw lb-ft @ 4050 rpm after the dyno-tune.
