I too have the Z51 option on my 98 coupe. Are the Z06 sway bars different enough to warrant replacing what I have, or is just replacing the shocks and end pieces enough?

We do not recommend c6z06 bars on a C5 as they tend to be too much sway bar for the C5 stance. The c6 z51 bars would be an improvement over the c5 z51 bars but would not be as dramatic as over the soft ride suspension. The shocks alone would be an improvement as well but if you are planning on doing end links you might as well do the bars with them

Glad I stumbled on this thread. I'll be ordering your kit soon. Both the shocks and the sway bar and end links. I'd love to do it now, but will probably have to wait until winter. I want to do it all at the same time instead of some now, and some later.

Had C6Z06 shocks and C6 Z51 sways and end links installed on a C5 vert that had only C5 Z06 shocks put on in 2005. It made a really big difference. Puts power down much better, less tail happy, less squeaky. I have way more confidence in the car. I think this is a really good way to go to seriously improve your 20 year old car’s handling in an inexpensive way. That said, it was not cheap to install and i plan to eventually do coilovers so it may have been better to wait. I am super happy with the product tho and glad I did it.

A Friend just bought an 09 C6 with the Z51 suspension. Very nice. Will this kit make the C5 ride/handle as well as the C6-Z51 ?
Is the additional 1/2" front and 3/4" rear travel this article referrs to lie only in the C6 shocks ? or is there something else...
From a magazine review :
*Across the board, C6 front suspensions have gained an additional 1/2-inch of travel, while the rear has benefited from 3/4-inch of added travel. Fractions of an inch may not sound significant, but that much-additional range is major gain! And the new Z51 package works so incredibly well that, were I in the position to buy a C6, I wouldn't even consider it without Z51. It's that good!*

2013 C6 Z51 Sway Bars!
Greetings Friends,
We have the Z51 sway bars kit with the Genuine GM bushings for $257.95
The reason people use these bars most on the C5’s and the C6’s is because unless you’re running 325 width tires in the rear, these are the way to go. These bars don’t cause the vehicle to ride “stiffer” per se. They are mostly for the cornering ability.
You know that feeling when you’re going into the turn and the car leans pretty heavily? These bars are meant to make the vehicle feel flatter in the turns and corner much better in the turns. Another advantage is the handling when you’re coming out of the turn. When you come out of the turns you will not be fighting the wheel as much as you would with the stock bars. These bars, since they’re thicker, make it easier all the way through the turns.
Below are the specifications and comparisons of the C6 Z51 sway bars compared to other Corvette suspension packages.
Corvette Sway Bar Specifications
Suspension Front (mm) Rear(mm)
C5 base 23.0 19.1
C5Z51 (97-99) 25.4 21.7
C5Z51 (00-04) 28.6 23.6
C5Z06 30.0 23.6
C6 base 25.5 17.5
C6Z51 31.0 25.4
C6Z06 31.0 28.0
We offer these sway bars with the 2013 C6 Z06 shocks. Also, whether it is a C5 or C6, coupled with the 2013 C6 Z06 shocks it makes a total different handling package. This package speaks for itself as we have many testimonials from many customers from whom we sold these to here on the forum!

2013 C6 Z06 Shocks!
We sell the 2013 C6 Z06 shocks for $309.95. Many C5 customers ask us why we don’t recommend the 2004 shocks over the 2013. Many people also say that the C6 shocks are only developed for the C6. If you look at all of the basic suspension components between the C5 and C6, they are very much the same. The reason we don’t recommend the 2004 Z06 shocks over the 2013 C6 Z06 shocks is simply because of the price and customer feedback. We have many customers who have tried both sets of shocks and cannot tell the difference between the two, so why not purchase the lesser expensive set!
For the C5, not C5 Z06, we also recommend the C6 Z51 sway bar kit. The C6 Z51 sway bar kit coupled with the 2013 C6 Z06 shocks is our most popular suspension and handling upgrade for the C5.

Can I use my old sway bar insulator brackets and end links from my 97C5? will this affect the performance?

As for end links, while I'm sure the original ones could technically work, I'm thinking 21 year old end links probably are due for replacement. When I installed this upgrade on my 2000 coupe a couple of years ago, my stock end links were uncooperative coming off anyway so my choice was easy. It's relatively inexpensive to replace them so my personal opinion would be to replace the stock ones when you install the upgrade.

It is the inside diameter of the bushing that changes, not the outside, so you can use the same brackets. GM changed to metal end links somewhere in the 2000 and 2001 range. So it is always best to check to see if they have been changed to metal. If they are metal and not making any noise I wouldn't spend the money.

I purchased both the shocks and sway bars during Gene's last year's Black Friday sale. I put them on this Spring. Money well spent

I'm happy to finally announce that after the sway bars being on backorder for a while and taking care of back logged customers we are now able to get the sway bar kits again! Have fun ordering.

Is this a direct bolt on installation without any modifications?
i also seen in the catalog a front bumper cover for less than a junk yard was asking
original fit?
getting the car repainted and doing some cosmetic work instead of a 2020
waiting to get bugs worked out a couple years

Hello, I have the 03 50th Anniversary and would like to change the shocks to improve the ride and
save some cash in the process. I understand that the shock system is the F55. Is that right? Therefore
the shock resistors will not work. I need to get the F55 system programmed out with a Tech II. Is that correct?
What shocks do you recommend? Do I need the sway bars and end links too? Thanks in advance for any help
or direction.
