Default LED door switch mod

I did the blue LED door switch mod (also TC panel). I'm not going to do the DIC until I'm in there for some other reason. Looks great, reduces heat, melting of plastic, etc. Had some minor fitment issues, but easily fixed with a file on each of the LED units.

Looks great. I did the same in white and am also waiting to do the DIC and HUD bulbs until I have another need to tear it all apart.

Default Fitment

I bought a set from a forum vendor - they had 2 led squares on top - between the size of the leds and the glue to hold them on - I could not get any to fit right and half busted either going in or coming out after not working.

Please indicate more details on where you got them and what adjustments you did to get them to fit right.

I just took a flat file to the "barrel" of the plastic between the LED and the "wings" Had to take off about 0.03" Be carefull not to file off the top of the wings.

I got my LED door switch replacements from JWMotoring. Easy replacement. The whole swap took a whole 10 minutes.

My question is how many bulbs are needed to do both doors?
Thanks.

It takes 6 - 4 for the driver's side and 2 for the passenger side. You pry off the driver's side unit at the bottom and the passenger side from the top.

I removed the old bulbs with the pointed tips of a small pair of needle nose pliers - about a quarter turn to the left. I believe the LEDs are pole sensitive so if they don't work you have to pull them out, rotate 180 deg. and reinstall.

Appreciate it and yes they install easy. Those directions we have are key to understanding the mod. Those that run into trouble do so when trying to reverse the polarity.

BTW I do not believe the OP's bulbs are from us. Ours feature 1 SMD which doesn't require any modifications.

So they are pretty much plug and play?

Before you remove the electrical connection on the switch panels, you can check the polarity of the sockets with a meter and mark with a sharpie. I think that all the negatives were inboard and positive were outboard (but don't quote me). Then hook up each LED unit with a 12v supply and test leads and mark each LED polarity. That way they all work right the first time.
