i have a 1997 6 spd with nearly every option checked off. Car is completely stock with only 73k miles. I would just keep it stock If it's going to be worth something one day, even if its long after i no longer own it.

Do you suspect that the 1997 will be increase in value at some point?

I highly doubt it but just wanted to get your opinions
Value is only what someone is willing to pay...

Youre wasting your time
Option, production # on late model anything means absolutely nothing.
Sure were all car guys but lets be realistic

Its a good bang for the buck toy sure not any type of collector car

To keep your car stock and not make it like you want????

Not trying to be a dik sell your car and find another hobby youll lose your **** or yrs of your life watching that car sit in the garage and rot

There were only a few thousand ZR-1s made most have 1000 mi or less and they are STILL going down in value. Some investment

Wow! About 404 cars later, mine came off the line (#502).

Let 'em say what they want about '97s. I bought mine when it was 10 years old and I was the third owner. I've had the car for another 10 years of trouble-free driving.

These threads are always entertaining to read. There's a similar thread over on LS1 Tech in regards to the Trans Am

I don't find it entertaining at all when stupid stuff I posted years ago returns to haunt me.

Kind of takes all the fun out being ignorant and having a deep need to straighten folks out.

I collect vinyl and the first production is always highly prized, because the stampers made to press the plastic have the most detail, the best information, when new and the playback is better, if you have fine enough equipment to recover it.

Having a low production number on a car seems to be only useful to tell the guy with production number 50, that you have production number 49. I guess for some guys that is worth it, to me it seems a bit arcane. But I guess arcane is part of collecting. Obviously with building mass production machines, the more you put together, the better the results, as the process improves.

Take a look at the other cars behind the 04, ask yourself do you think the owner of this company knows anything about corvettes? Is he in business because he's and idot? Do you own more corvettes then him?

Thats also the last C5 ever made. He will not get anywhere near his $1m asking price.

Drive it and enjoy the C5 experience. I suspect, and I could be wrong, that very clean, well maintained, stock or mostly stock low mileage C5's have bottomed out on price and if we are lucky the car gods may even show us a little on the plus side as time goes on. I don't think of them as an appreciating collectible, just the best performance ride for the buck out there these days. Enjoy your vette, get it out of the garage and go for a cruise! Best wishes!
