led brake lights
I am going to install these in my 02. Brake lights for sure and maybe taillights. Could anyone advise whether or not I will have to install resistors as a matter of course to cancel hyperflash or is it an install the lights and see what happens sort of thing? I don't reallly want to order resistors and just have them sitting around if I don't have to. Thanks for the input.

I would go ahead and get a hyperflash harness and install it. I did so on mine when I installed the LED taillights and without it the lights would hyperflash.

When I changed to front and rear LED's, I bought the harness here:
Also while you're there, I installed these front switchbacks DLR's:

A hyper flash usually works for most users.........but sometimes things don't work right.
Seems that for some reason some of us that switched to LED tail bulbs had to use resistors along with a hyper flash harness. Before adding rear lamp LEDs I had no issues with my front switchback LEDs and a hyper flash harness. But when I added LEDs in my rear lamps, no matter what I tried the LEDs I used in my tail/turn lamps would throw codes and play havoc with all my LEDs. I tried several different sets and different configurations that members suggested on CF. None resolved the issues unless I removed the rear LEDs. So I bought two resistors and hooked them into each outboard rear lamps and after every LED worked without any codes or problems.

Thank you for the input. I don't want to go the resistor route, either. And with my luck, I'd probably burn up the whole electrical system after installing LEDs. I am seriously reconsidering the entire thing.

Don’t get discouraged bud. I’ve done full exterior LED’s on 3 cars: (2 C5’s and a Challenger) and have had no problems. The Challenger even had sequential that had 4 bulbs.

If you have any worries about the quality of the hyperflash harness buy it from Radioflyer or JWM. I’ve bought from both of them, tho’ my Challenger one was from Ebay. No problems with any of them.

I got my setup from Radio Flyer and its working fine. Just make sure that all connections are good (electrical contact spray) - I did have some strange issues at first (apply brakes and DRL's would shut off) - had an intermittent connection with one of the rears....
