Anomoly happened last night, need input...
I'll start from the top...
Over the past couple of days I've been messing around with the battery and the HID lights. For the battery I cleaned all terminals thoroughly, and for the HID's I installed a 20amp 5ohm resistor to cure my bucket problem. Everything seemed fine. I took the car for a drive and as soon as I made it around the corner I felt hesitation. I then went on the gas a gain and it felt as if the engine was starving and died. Codes came on the DIC but went away to fast for me to record. The only one I recall was something to the effect of "loss of power" or similar. I tried starting the car and it was full of juice but just not turning over.
I was in a bad location close to an intersection. Some guy riding by was nice enought to help me push the car out of the way. I poped the hood, checked the battery and connections and everything looked kosher. I then checked my codes and had nothing current. I waited a few minutes then tried to start the car and it did. It was though nothing happened.
I should note I was low on gas but the gas light had not come on yet. I drove to the gas station, filled up, then drove home. Any idea guys???

It's possible I suppose, but it's not howling or making odd noises. I tried searching online but nothing concrete. Maybe TPS??? I'm hoping ET, or someone else in the know will respond.

As long as the obvious things check out such as running out of gas, there are three things that can cause what you describe without giving you any codes:
- fuel pump
- ignition switch
- CKP sensor
The fuel pump and ignition switch can be checked easily. Look for how-to's on this forum. The CKP sensor is the hard one since they can test fine but will die intermittently when the engine warms up. Check out my thread.

Good luck!

Thanks guys. Cyber, I will check out your suggestions. What sucks is that it was the first time anything like that ever happened, and now I'm afraid to drive the car.

Cybermind,
I just read your entire thread...WOW! So for teh CKP issue, will it only happen when it is hot? From what I recall my engine temp was low since I had just left my house and did not run my car before that. It only happen to me once but I want to avoid any future mishaps. I may just do what you did an replace the CKP anyways.
Did you have to bring in the car to "re-learn" the CKP??

No, I did not do a CKP relearn even though it is highly recommended. However, the car runs beautifully without it. Actually, it has never run better. But, I do think that it's the result of new 02 sensors.
But, keep in mind that it can vary from car to car.

You will see my post in Cybermind's thread. I will be changing my CPK today. I wouldn't say yet you have the same issue or not. Read my post first:

For my situation he best way I found to "catch" a code when this happens was:
When it starts happening keep my foot on the gas as it drops to zero RPM and back on again. Once it finaly dies DO NOT turn the key off. Run the codes on the DIC. This is how I found the code for the CKP

Thanks for the info. I will be following your post. If possible can you take pics and timeline of the CKP install? I'm currently shopping for one as we speak, and will also order a set of o2 sensors as well. John, are you going to bring it to GM to for the "re-learn" process?

I will install and "hope" I get lucky without the "relearn" like Cybermind did. I plan on taking detailed pictures and will make a new post when I do. I will put a link to the post here and on the other post Cybermind started.
I ordered my AC Delco CKP from Rock auto for around $45-50 (dealer wanted $107) and it came in 2 days with regular USPS shipping.
I would read through all of the post in Cybermind's thread and drive your car to see if it happens again before I would say for sure your problem is the CKP. I drove mine daily for almost 8 days before it did it the second time. Then I figured out how to "catch" the codes.

Cybermind, how many clicks do you have?
As with any vehicle, many times part failures happen around a certain point. Just curious to see if it's around the same mileage. I'm at 102,000 miles.
I could wait it out to see if it happens again and capture the codes I supose, but I have safety concerns and would rather avoid putting myself in a potentially dangerous situation

The side battery terminals are easy to under tighten and can cause all sorts of symptoms if not tightened to 10 to 15 foot pounds. Use a 3/8" drive torque wrench. You have to pull pretty hard on the little 6" wrench we typically use to get into the middle of the range of 12 to 13 foot pounds.

Already have both your threads saved. How many clicks do you have on your car?

I took the car out for the first time since the incident and had no issues. But looking at cybermind and James threads I'm not taking any chances! I ordered the ckp and two new o2 sensors. I have long tube headers so I hope its not going to make things complicated.
