Key fob not working after year long no use
Basically after about a year of installing a new motor in my car. No battery in it of course. I go and get a new battery for my fob and follow the instructions to sync the key with the car it will not do it. I have two keys and have tried both. The fobs are in great condition. And I have tried multiple times but still a no go.
They worked perfectly before I the overhaul
Should I buy new fobs?

Are you trying the sync procedure or the relearn procedure? If you are trying the relearn, what happens when you get to the portion where the DIC display says press and hold the lock and unlock button? Do you ever get to that portion, or does it get there and you get no response? Are you getting a reading from your tire pressure monitors?
Also, what year is your car?

More info on what you have tried so far would help with an answer.

I put fresh batteries in mine. Not sure if it is related, but mine program, work for a short while (an hour?) and then "forget" again. I can re-program them over and over.
I've been reading and think they need to be re-soldered?

My two fobs would not work and purchased new batteries from them. They still would not work with the car. Later found out that the battery on the car was low so I charged the battery and both fobs started to work. My car battery had enough juice to start the car but was not a full charge.

1997 Targa. New battery and new battery for the fobs

Silly question...
How close to the dash are you holding the fob when attempting this?
I ran into the same situation once and could not get the fob to register when it was on the chain connected to the key in the ignition. I removed the fob and held it 4-6 inches from the dash and it worked.
