Default C7 next to C5

There is a GM plant employee in town. He's on vacation before going on a Corvette meet.

I snapped a few pictures of his C7 next to my C5. It was interesting to me how close the profile of the cars are with a 20 year difference in models.

Very interesting. Hopefully the C7 will grow on me. I'm waiting to see one in person.

Very cool comparison. I think they look most similar in that front shot. I still see too much Camaro in the sides for me. There is a great article in Corvette magazine this month about the designer of the C5; great to see it is still so influential in the new C7 - a timeless design

I don't see ANY similarities between the two.
If I didn't know the C7 was a Corvette, I'd think it was something a bit more exotic/European. Comparing these two are like comparing a C1 to C4.
In this case, a comparison between a C6 and C7 would be more apropos.
They both look great, though.

To me you still can't beat the classic lines of the C5. Won't turn down a C7 though.

What color is the C5 in those pictures? It is exactly the same as mine, except for the interior (mine is black).

Thanks.

It's Electron blue that has been repainted. It's just a touch darker than normal EB.

Great pics. Thanks for sharing!

I'm amazed at how well the C5 looks hold up against the C7. The C5 does not look dated at all compared to most cars from that period. I love how the front of the C5 is lower than the C7 accentuating the sleek curves of the C5.

You can really see the Transformers Stingray concept design elements in the rear of the C7.

I will wait until the aftermarket (or GM) modifies / removes that irritating lower side "rail" on the C7.

Much more pleased with my C5. The C5 design looks more to be the work of an individual, rather than the "design by committee" appearance of the C7 (too many different / tacked on design elements).

Thanks for the side by side comparisons!

To me the C7 looks cartoon-ish, transformer-like, hard angular lines, in your face garish. The people that like the Transformer Bumble Bee Camaro probably will like the C7. Also that new Corvette emblem is so freaking huge, like wings or something, again transformer style. And I realize they are trying to get the younger crowd. To each their own I guess.
But if you look at the cars that people say are classic designs, i.e. Bugatti Type 57 S Atlantic, Tucker, Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gull wing, Dusenberg, etc. They all have flowing curves, softer lines, classic designs that will always look great.
But at least the Corvette lives on! An American Icon baby!!

The C5 looks sleek, stealthy, with catlike reflexes. The C-7 looks like the Borg melded a Camaro and a Corvette together. Too many angles and lines in the C7 for me, It may grow on me though. I need to see one in person.

The C7 finally grew on me after looking at out and all of it's features for a few months. I actually came to realization that it's a beautiful car. And for the tail light argument, I read that the GM Engineers tried to incorporate round tail lights on the c7 but they said that it wouldn't work with the body lines, don't quote me though, it's just what I read on some article. I actually like the tail lights, if you see close up photos of the lights they're actually very neat lights with some depth. But, since it's out of my price range I'll happily stick with my FRC for the time being, it's a great looking car as well!
