~*~90 Days in1stMods4Vert~*~ Wheels/Rotors/Pads, POR 15 RedCaliperPainting ~*~Pics~*~
What started as a generous fifty-fifth birthday gift to myself has turned into a small project to doll her up, thanks to you men of CF. Without the motivation created by your photos, posts and outstanding C5s on this Forum, I simply would not have known about cool mods. I recall reading a post for the first time and wondering why anyone would want to improve/personalize this already awesome looking Sportscar. I continued to read posts, view photos and I no longer enjoyed seeing these stock wheels on my car and so began the searching, postings, PMs, in locating, purchasing CCW505as, 19" tires, Baer Decelerator rotors, ceramic pads and a few odds and ends. Although I'm not finished until my featherlights arrive this coming week. That's my friend Ann and here's how she started out back this past March/April BSMs and all...

Off came the FaceBrutta... As Fed Ex delivered my anticipated newbies...

In the meantime I got two new tires $500 to add to the two new ones that Curry included in the CCW deal $2400, while getting new tire sensors at approx. $200, rebalanced for a hondo and everything was working towards install. Took advantage of the fact they were in my garage to polished them when I noticed how you could really see though them, I thought I might as well do the rotors/pads for about a nickel and get the ultimate wheel look done and over with.

Also had some peeling exhaust paint.. I didn't like looking at that anymore either, purchased black POR15 and had that redone too..

[IMG][/IMG]
[IMG][/IMG]
Rocker Panels installed also while there to eliminate the need for pucks.. Filthy down there! I'm going to work on getting that area cleaned, waxed when I have a little extra time.
[IMG][/IMG]
She's going to be low once the CoilOvers are in so I thought to do these as well since I have such a ramp up driveway. Not sure if they work yet, we'll have to wait and see. If not, off they go...

IMO the difference is dramatic, which all added up to about $4K in. Add an additional $1800 for back ordered pfadts $300 install, a little over $6K out I'm not sure how you guys do it as for me that was a major ordeal; Not so much the $cratch although sure, the posting, talking, researching, PMs, ordering, orchestrating it all. As one of the guys stated, I've learned to enjoy the process. Worth it? Yes! When I look and ride her, she pleases me with inner peace and joy and with any luck it should be completed this coming week. Thank you to all of you that helped with input, suggestions, advise. Gentlemen its really appreciated. When this wheel chapter is all said and done. I believe I'm done with mods. I'll get a few additional pics for my records and perhaps post a couple more up. Not racing it, just cruising it on weekends with companions. Don't plan to do anything else except maybe down the road a upgrade in Stereo/GPS. Please feel free to suggest, if it was your car what would you consider doing next? Thank you.. GoodAy. PeterB.

Peter - you've done some very tasteful mods to the car since you've bought it. Love the wheels.

Nicely done Pete!
I work in Chicago Loop and also suburbs, I was in Des Plains last week, Wouldn't mind checking out your ride and helping you spend more money over a few cold ones!

I bought mine with one mod done, exhaust... IMHO it's the absolute best mod to make!
Good Luck trying to decide what system to go with!

Thank you gentlemen. It looks so much better to me too As I mentioned, well worth the proce$$.
As pertains to exhaust, while I totally understand (On my UltraClassic scooter, I use SampsonPipes and love'm) That being said on my car, maybe cause its an Automatic, I'm older I'm not sure, I don't want it louder. Not yet anyways. I kinda like it quiet, stealthy
I'm open to it and will take time to make that exhaust decision.. And there are so many options my goodness how do you finally decide and if you do and your not happy with it, your pucked! Here's one today. I'm sure there will be another option tomorrow and the next day.
XSPower C5 3" Catback System in Stock and SHIPPING! $749 Shipped?? I do agree my tips are tired, dull, a little smaller then I've like'm. We'll see... Maybe if I can buy it right. Then again, I'd like that GPS/Stereo screen update as well, maybe better? Don't know yet. Sloooooow and steady wins the race.
As pertains to that 305s tire thickness question. Seems like such a long time ago already, I'll be honest with you I don't recall maybe 11'ish. I'll double check and PM it to you. Blitz anytime bud, if your in Des Plaines WTF let me know mo its right next door to me, sure lets enjoy a pie & tip a few cold ones. First couple rounds are on me
Speaking of, thanks again to everyone whom I've PMed, Spoken with from the Corvette Forum. Everyone who has taken the time to call me, return calls and taken their time to speak to me to shared their valuable knowledge experience. Again, "Special Thank You" to you and everyone else! I really appreciated your Feed back, Courtesy, Patience and Kindness. You Guys Are The Best!

Great job Peter, be sure and remember this post so you can remember that you're "not" going to do more mods in the future. You've got the fever now and it never goes away, it just hibernates for a while. If you enjoy a free and fun car show, make your way down to woodridge saturday at 11 on July 20th for the Tilted Kilt car and bike show. The ladies of the kilt love Red Corvettes!

Wow! Really looks nice. PM'd you about the CCW's.

Thanks for the heads up MGRED Based on your strong recommendations. I've already set aside the July 20th date as we certainly don't want to neglect that specific event. Btw by coincidence just so happens I have a curvy chula friend in that area. Haven't see her in a while with her college studies and all.. Anyhow she lives in WoodRidge, maybe we can visit and get a 2/1 bonanza that day As pertains to additional Mods, yes don't get me started... Stereo/GPS next, that being said...A good guy, Italian CF local paisano sent me a PM and photos on BillyBoat Rt66 Exhaust System and we are meeting on Sat just to meet, talk Vetts and check it out. Its in Noonish in Norridge, your welcome to join us. As I mentioned I like a quieter, stealthier car these days and of course, what else I'm told these happen to be the most cosmetic, quieter type of exhaust one could acquire OoooooohMadonnnnna...
Know nothing about different types of exhausts; Would anyone concur ? Buddy Dan suggested XPipe to go with it as otherwise it gurgles at iddle?? Know nothing about it? What's that do?

If you peek under Blitz' hood, there may be no turning back!
Great mods and great pics! I took a picture of my vert in almost the same spot when I was living near Chicago.
