and experience the exploding ls7?

grand sport is more appealing to me, cheaper to buy, repair, build and maintain

Sure, I'm interested in a C6 Z06. But what would a GOOD price be on one in pristine condition with 18K miles? I'm certain it is $40K. That's a $15K delta over my C5. Not a hard choice with a limited budget.

No, I am perfectly happy with my C5 Z. I do not like the looks of the C6.

I'd like to add one down the road. Once the heads are sorted out, they are tough to beat in performance/dollar. Wish they were FRC, though...

I would have bought a C6Z06 or Grandsport Corvette but it came down to price. I still love my C5Z06 though. Awesome car for the money. I might keep it and buy a C6 model later down the road.

Nah, i like my C5Z WAY better.
Only reason i would ever consider one is because of the performance and newer features.

The best price I have EVER seen in my area was $45,000 with 60K miles

I was tossing up picking up an 05/06 Coupe, or going with the C5 Z06. I love the looks of the C6, but the Z06 just looks like it's built for one thing, and that's speed. Glad I went with it.

then you haven't been looking very far. friend of mind sold one with 23k miles for 40k flat, nother one closed at manheim for 38k with 19k miles

for an 06 those are fairly common prices

you're also looking at kbb which is absolutely not accurate. that book exists in order for dealers to upsell customers, the only one of the 3 major books that tracks dealer auction and adjusts up for retail is NADA which is why it's called the north american dealer association

Of course they look good, but when you drop a valve and your motor blows up I bet you wont be such a happy camper. Seems a lot of guys are trying to drop their Zs over there for that.

they don't, they break springs which on occasion can lead to a dropped valve

it's also $65 and a couple hours of work to replace all the valve springs on an 02-03 car

little more to rebuild the heads on an ls7, lot more labor too

lol noooo they drop valves and grenade the engines just like the ls7's.

how do you think the ls7 learned to do it LOL

labor wise, almost the exact same, remove coils, remove cover, pressurize cylinder hole with air, remove retainers, swap springs, reverse order to button up.

not a whole lot changes from generations when talking about how to replace these springs.

If you look at it realistically, not a very big percentage are dropping valves. Especially the non cammed ones. Sometimes this forum really blows things out of proportion.

ls7 has guide issues that allow the valve to flop around and can lead to the exploding ls7 syndrome

night and day difference in cost to fix and labor involved. with an ls7 you have to pull both heads, have new guides installed, new valves and a valve job

with an ls6 you pull the springs and replace them
