To Tune or not to Tune
Looking for some advice...
I am considering getting my car tuned and am looking for some of your input. I know that there are different kinds of tests. Is there a preferred method of tuning? What kind of benefits do each offer?
The important information. '02 C5, six speed dual cone intake and cat back exhaust.
Thanks in advance for your help...

I'm not sure that you'd benefit from a tune on a basically stock car, unless you want to establish a base line before doing additional mods. I've had my car dyno tuned several times. The first was to establish a base line to see what my starting point was. A dyno tune in this area runs between $500-$600. If it were me, I'd wait until you add headers, a cam, a supercharger, etc., etc.

with Devil... You would pick up a few horses, but not enough to justiffy the cost, with your mods. At the minimum if you add headers it would be worth while.

+1. Add some more performance mods, then do a tune.

I to have a 2002 M6 and I added CAI and catback and then had a dynotune to give me a base for future mods. Next is headers, x-pipe and then heads and cam. My tuner is going to work with me on the pricing of future tunes due to the fact that he will be the only one tuning it. I don't know that I saw a huge HP increase but it definitly woke the car up and feels like it responds much quicker than it did before. Just my .02

You probably won't pick up a lot of horses - I only picked up about 8whp and 10wtq after tuning my 03 Z06 with headers - but there are other added benefits. Getting rid of the 1-4 forced shift, adjust fan settings, fuel cutoff for column lock, etc.
If you expect to do more mods soon, probably not worth it. But if you're satisfied with where you're at, there are some cool things that can be tweaked.

I'd say - do it.
I have an 03 M6 Coupe, mainly stock but does have a Honker CAI and a TI catback.
I had it tuned, not dyno tuned as that would of been about 300 more. The car is a LOT more responsive to the throttle and smoother through out the band. 1-4 crap is gone along with the 2mph shutdown.

I can see how this was vague, but I meant untuned versus tuned. Run with headers untuned was 372rwhp/368rwtq. Once tuned, 380rwhp/378rwtq.
I never did a baseline stock run, but I'd assume I picked up 20-30whp/tq over stock with headers/ziptie/tune since most Zs dyno 350-360 stock.
