Sounds stupid but tranny noise finally....
forced me to switch back to factory shifter from B&M ripper. Is it just my Z06 or is the noise normal? I didn't realize how much noise is filtered by the factory set up.
By the way Ripper for sale cheap. E-mail wasvette@aol.com with any offer $100 or higher (includes shipping in the US).

Re: Sounds stupid but tranny noise finally.... (Power Shifter)
Power Shifter--Primarily low gears, low RPM but also at cruise in 4th or 5th with acceleration. It really makes the car sound junky (which it is not) and was embarassing with passengers unfamiliar with the Vette 1st hand. This sounds crazy but after putting the stock back in it is like a different car! :D
I had the shifter in my 99 FRC and it was more tolerable.

Mine is pretty bad as well. I've wrapped 13 grams of wheel weight on th shaft, changed to a hard bar ****... it better, but still rattles badly under hard acceleration in 2nd thru 5th gears. However, that's the only time its noticable. I stopped recommending this shifter to freinds. It's to raw for those who are noise-sensitive. I love the shift action and feel though (although sixth can be a bit stiff)... B&M really needs to work this out of their product. I'm not ready to swap it out yet... but would not have installed it had I known of the noise issues prior to buying it.

Switch *****. I had put my stock **** back on a ripper and it buzzed and rattled like crazy. Switched to a simple delrin hardbar ****, put it on VERY tight and presto a sillent shifter except for the louder clicks on the shifts. Never did one thing to the shifter, no weights, etc.

That was my opinion also, I tried a kirban unit & didnt care for the noise or the increased effort to shift. It's fine if all your going to do is race. As far as I'm concerned I wish my Vette was an A4 I bet it would accelerate faster.
I bet in the near future corvettes will feature a F1 paddle shifter like Ferrari now has. :seeya

I was going to wait for the Hurst shifter, but it sounds like even they have a noise problem . . . anyway, I'm now pretty comfortable with the stock shifter and probably will stick with it. :)
