looking to purchase My first C5
Good afternoon. I am in the market to purchase a C5. I have been seeing a lot of different prices on various years of the C5. From what I have read thus far, it looks like the 2001 is the way to go, due to the changes made (from what I read on this site) I see a lot of high mileage vehicles as well. Price wise I have seen from 12k to 18k which is right around my budget. Should I be worried with a 12k car?
With that said, is there anything I should be worried about in regard to purchasing a C5 corvette? From my budget stand point, I am looking more towards a 98. All the 98's I see are high miles, which is fine. Just worried about something going wrong as I wont have the immediate funds to fix anything. Just want a turn key vehicle that I can operate with little to no worries for a few years.
I guess whats my best bang for the buck? I will most likely be buying from a dealer at some point as I dont have enough up front.
Thank you in advance.

If you want a C5 that fits that description you will likely have to pay premium price and find a low mileage car. I bought a 2004 with 4900 miles on it 20 months ago. It wasn't cheap. It has ten times that mileage today and has been as you desire (except for the window regulators). I doubt any of the higher mileage ones I looked at would have been so worry free.

I don't think you can expect a 13+ year old car to be trouble free no matter what you buy.
We just got a C5 a month or so ago, and have already replaced the coolant reservoir, and a cracked parking lense. I think we got off pretty easy so far. Electronics don't last forever, so no matter how many miles, expect some items will need to be replaced.

My C5 had 35K on it when I bought it and I paid a pretty penny for it. Needless to say it was a garaged, rarely driven, weekend car. It has issues but little things. Its still awesome and put down tons of power.

I know nothing is perfect. Just looking to see what kind of problems to expect. The EBCM thing has me worried a tad. I tend to have a history of driving my cars harder than normal.
I appreciate the replies.

Check out this thread - lots of good information in it and includes a Corvette Buyers Checklist.
