Default 1997 drivers window makes noise when moved

it sounds like there's a lot of dirt on the track or something. I have the panel off, window out, and I sprayed some silicone one on the tracks and it still makes the noise. any suggestions? also it sometimes doesn't roll all the way up ( about an inch short) any suggestions? thank you!!

Make sure the cables have good tension on them. I had a similar problem (from the sound of it) - grinding noise whenever i rolled up/down the window, sometimes stopping short. Noticed one of the cables was very slack, secured it behind a clip with a zip tie to hold tension on it.

Not 100% sure if it'll work for yours, but it's cheap and easy to try

the one going to the bottom of the left track is already zip tied. I'd assume someone has already had trouble with it. I held tension on all of the other ones whole rolling it and nothing. is there anything to do other than drop $150 on a new regulator?

on second thought, I see the zip tie but it isn't in a special place. does anyone have a picture of where it's supposed to be?

There are the only pictures i managed to grab when I was working on mine - couldn't really get a good angle on it inside the door

The green circle highlights the area where I attached the cable, behind the plastic cover.

figured it out!! one of the steel cables started to fray. half was stuck in the motor, half was on the track. I cut out the frayed part but it still needs to be replaced. now the truck is to find some cable without the whole assembly!

Been there done that, You will be a lot better off just replacing the whole init and don't get an aftermarket unit, I made that mistake, The after market units are really slow going up and down, Buy GM unit and be safe.

that must mean there's no chance of buying just the steel cables.. eh? haha I can't find them online and had a buddy that works at O'Reillys look for them. I found a Delco for $150. anyone know of any better prices?
