Great write up. I estimate you have saved me a couple of grand over the last couple of years using your site instead of my "old" mechanic. Fun to do as well. Thanks a million for the new and old info.

Toque, thanks for the links to your site on how to do these fixes and maintenance. I'll be using them in the near future now that I have two C5's to maintain.

I'm glad to hear some find it helpful.

That was a little tricky.
I would bend it a little, then squeeze the bend with my vise to open it up again.... then bend some more, then squeeze the bend again ....etc...etc..etc...

They were on sale at Harbor Freight today, $3.99

Picked one up, modded and used it today.

Default A little more info would be appreciated

I have been reading your write up on how to clean between the radiator and condenser. My car I just purchased has been getting up to 220 rather easily, and then it starts to burn oil. So I am thinking your procedure will work wonders for me. I have a compressor, but you said about being aware of the pressure or you will bend fins. What pressure did you use? Also, for that blower you used, how long was it? I live in Canada, so I don't think where you said you got it applies to me. Any help is appreciated.

think its possible to use water instead of air with a modified nozzle similar to the one the OP uses? (don't have the cash for a compressor right now)

sorry if this has been asked already

I think I had my compressor set to 50PSI and I was very careful to watch to see if I was bending any fins (Which did not happen).
I also put some cardboard between the radiators when I was cleaning the rear radiator. That way I did not blow crap into the front radiator.

Oh... I also got my blow gun from Harbor Freight.
I'm sure you can order one from Canada.
They are not expensive.

Surprised this question didn't come up more often. And the solution is from, you guessed it, Harbor Freight:
http://www.harborfreight.com/tubing-bender-3755.html
Only $6.

Default So I did it this morning

However, I still see some stuff in the rad and condenser. As you can see that is a lot of stuff, my car has almost 50,000 miles on it, and it was well plugged. Should I go to water next? I use a little more psi than 50, didn't bend any fins. however, I only have a 7 gallon compressor, so its not like it maintains excellent pressure. No doubt it sure helped, but I want to get it all out. It was only about 70 degrees out this morning, and the car still went past 205, but not to 225.

Thats a lot of crap !

Sure makes a mess in the garage huh ?

I would try the water as well.
It can't hurt. Just try to keep the water away from any electronics.

Sounds like your on the right path though !

Thanks again for all your help Toque, you are a wealth of information, especially on your website. I hate to be a pain, but I am going to send you a pm on another issue I am having, maybe you have some insight on it, as I can't find any one else in this forum with a thread regarding what is going on.
