First problem with 2002
Just got back from having an amp & subwoofer installed at a "professional installer"---come to find out that it was some rookie that wasn't too familiar with how corvettes operate. A more expeirenced tech had to step in to finally get things right and even had to stay late to fix it.--problem is that the only illumininating light that is lit on the climate control system is the one on the passenger ****--and that one is kinda faint. Anyone know what these knotheads might have done and how big a pain it is to fix it? I haven't even had the vette for a month and here we go with aggrevations already

I hear you on the frustration. Hope that whatever it is turns out to be an easy fix for you.

The dim HVAC display is a common issue and here's a good thread to check out. It may be coincidence.
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-t...splay-fix.html
I fitted my own head unit a few years ago and IIRC its just a single connector at the back. If it was all the lights which were out I'd be thinking they had forgotten to reconnect the connector. With one working that may not be it.
Either way, I'd be speaking to the guys who did the work and get them to fix the problem. Best of luck

Thanks for the input but the display itself seems OK--its the lights the illuminate the HVAC that are out(except for one it seems). Guess I'll have to call the installer Mon on what to do to fix it--what a bummer.......

I did qualify these guys beforehand as they are the most respected and professional in town---and I went to the other places around that install but felt that I couldn't trust any of them w/my car. After I found out that they let some rookie(they told me he had been installing for years, just not on vettes)work on it I told the salesman that had I known that I would not let them do the job. He said that was the decision of the shop mgr. I'm going to see if they will reimburse me to have it sent to Dave for repair--not work on it anymore. I never get burned twice. You try & trust people but whataya gonna do?

Yes stay away from them in the future, if they allow a rookie to work on a Corvette they are either incompetent or stupid. Maybe both.
My mechanic won't allow his employees to work on cars like this even though they may have experience as it reflects on him.

I agree 100% w/you Retired SFC and plan on stating my case w/ the mgr tomorrow.
I'll let you know the outcome. These people must not understand how special these cars are to us and not just anybody can work on them properly. I've only owned mine for over a month now but already I feel a bond w/her. I'm certainly learning fast about these exotic machines. Oh, by the way, the JL audio 8" minisub along with the Rockford Fosgate 150 watt amp(bridged) sound awesome with the factory radio-and they both fit nicely in the rear compartment. I can still fit the cover over them and no one would ever know that I had the sub unless you showed them. At least they did something right.
