17.5k is overpriced for a 51k 2002 z06?

that's under MMR for his purchase year and probably still is today

how could you consider a buy under dealer auction overpriced?

17,800 sound like a fair price. If this is the car you want, with the right color and options, go for it, as you might not find anything better, and will always think about "the one that got away". I paid 14,700 for a 99 coupe with 62k miles last year, and despite of some folks here thinking everything is overpriced, except their car, I think I got a good deal, as it was the exact car I was looking for.

I think its probably right in the ballpark, not great, but certainly a fair asking price for whats out there.

I've been looking at C4s in that price range so this sounds too good to be true.

Everyone seems to qoute the sold price, or what they paid for their car which is almost certainly going to be lower than the asking price. What I would like to see is what the asking price was on the car you purchased and then what you actually paid for it. The price the OP is showing is obviuosly the asking price which I would say is in the ballpark if not a little high but depending on how much the seller is willing to negotiate the buyer could possibly get it for 1-2 thousand less in which case would be a great buy and a good sale for the owner. For a C5 condition is everything and that's usually not something you can determine just by looking at pictures on the internet. Some of the purchase prices quoted in this thread are amazingly good deals. For those that purchased a year or 2 ago, you got the car at the right time based on how the economy was in the toilet and most owners were letting their cars go for absurdly low prices. Prices currently seem to be holding steady if not increasing a little bit for the last couple years. Location and time of year will also affect sale prices. Right now prices will be a tad higher and a little less negotiable compared to December, January for those of us that live in the colder climates.

He wasn't talking about overpriced in terms of the book value of the car. He was talking about it being overpriced TO HIM because he wouldn't want a fixed roof vehicle.

In some regards, he's correct. The car is worth what someone will pay for it. You can price your vehicle at book value or less but if no one is interested, it could sit there for a long time. It just varies based on demand. The z06's though generally are in fairly good demand.

Right on! Gets interesting talking about speed, there's always someone faster than you! Many verts can take down a z and vice versa just depends whats been done to the car. That's whats so cool about these cars. My preference color red and roadster.

And there's a lot more to a Z06 than 55hp bud...you can add 55hp and a Z06 will still spank your ***...
a little lighter, better suspension, a little better gearbox, cool side vents, am i missing something?

Maybe its time you go bald? HERR HERR! Your right though, if I was just going to drive my car in a circle I would chose a Z06

with you, the real value of something is subjective. It depends what a person is looking for. I, for example, leave the convertibles for Barbie and would never buy one, so I would value a convertible much lower.

On the topic, that price looks average. I wouldnt say over priced if its what you want, but its by no stretch "too good to be true"

Nice c-5's are still worth good money!

That sums it up. It's not horribly overpriced but it seems to be on the higher side of the averages.

Price is very subjective. I really like Fairway Green which is a '97 and '98 only color. If I found one in excellent shape I may well be willing to pay a premium (at least above average market value) for it. Some would likely say I got screwed for paying a premium for those years/color but, if it was worth it to me that would be all that matters.
