Looking at possible first vette. Need a little help.
I've found a 2000 online with 74k miles. Description says the transmission was just rebuilt. That seems a little soon for this car. So I have two questions: 1 is that in fact soon for this car? 2 What concerns for other problems should I have if the trans already had to be rebuilt.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Blessings to you.

See it as it was rebuilt at 74k I'm just assuming it was a six speed car? If so I've seen those rebuilt on a variety of mileages. Mine's at 100,000k right now and hasn't been rebuilt but I've had friends who take care of their cars and just had a syncro go out causing a rebuild around the same mileage as the one you're looking at. Since it's a 2000, it has the early style t56, which used paper blockers that don't work to well with a majority of synthetic fluids on the market, so it could be something as simple as the owner accidentally running one of those synthetics in it too? I'd pull up the codes on the dash and write them down (if any) and look the car through and if everything checks out I wouldn't worry about it.

Great question. I should have noted its an Auto. The ad does not mention mods. Pics do not show visible mods either.
Thanks

Another question, your profile says you're located in Abilene. How far is that from Odessa/Midland? I don't know why I think they're pretty close but if the car is coming from that area I'd probably skip out, most sport cars from that area are owned by kids who just went into the oil industry since they're having a boom and they spend their first paycheck on a car and it gets raced/drove hard/not maintained/modded wrong/etc. I've seen some sweet cars come out of that area (redbarron on ls1tech) but most are beaten on and end up on Craigslist because they have major issues now. I used to live in Amarillo and saw a lot of cars come out of Midland/Odessa

That seems awful early for a tranny to go out but it would be nice if you knew exactly what went wrong with it that required the rebuild. If you seriously consider it, I would recommend a thorough look over by a good Corvette mechanic.
