Borla sound

I had the stingers on my last C5. With stock manifolds they sound very good and didn't drone much. However once I added longtubes the drone became much more prevalent and highway driving gave me a headache. Don't get me wrong, they sounded amazing when romping on it....just got old on long highway drives.

I have been very happy with my stingers! They do not drone, and are not too loud. This being said, I also don't have headers or a x-pipe. I think adding headers is where the drone come into play.

I have installed GHL on two of my vettes....99 FRC and 98 Vert just a couple of weeks ago.
I had stingers on a 07 coupe and they were nice.
Having both I prefer GHL.
Here's a GHL clip. I just got mine new for $749......
Minimal drone and sound great when you get on 'em.

I've got a manual with Stingers and AR headers. If I hear drone, I'm lugging the motor, and shift to a lower gear. I never hear drone because I don't drive lugging my motor - I'm already in the lower gear. Yes, this means that at 70 mph in fifth I'm screaming along at a nose bleed inducing 2300 rpm and getting 24 mpg. It can get a little intense, just for a second, with a large throttle opening at 4,000 rpm in second gear. I just don't see what the big deal is.
In exchange, I get beautiful, not too loud sound all the time. Overlapping layers of perfectly tuned sounds, shifting with the throttle and interplaying. Sounds a little like a sports car.

Did you decide on a package yet??
A thought: have you had performance cars before, and with full exhausts? Cams? Etc? If so, you'll love the Stingers all day long.
If this is your first foray into sports cars and/or you are averse to noise but just want it to be a bit more aggressive when you are at WOT only... consider something else, I guess? =P
Also of note... I've had a BUNCH of different exhausts on my C5s... factory iron, factory polished, Z06 Titanium, Borla 4" quad tips, SLP quad tips, and now Borla Stinger.
STINGERS WIN HANDS DOWN.
The 2 tip exhaust looks so much more normal than the weird 4 exhaust tip appearance. I never really thought much of it until I saw this kit when it came off the jack. LOVE IT.
And the sound is RIGHT ON. Has a good bass rumble at idle, good low tone when cruising, and is an angry monster at WOT thanks to the headers. (PS - the best thing I've found to help squelch the motor boat sound at idle which all C5s have due to firing order in the engine... is a good x-pipe with a good exhaust)
I have stainless works headers, high flow cats, x-pipe and then the borla stingers on mine. The engine is virgin - no cam or internal mods. This is the best sounding C5 I have owned yet. If you want loud, downshift or hit the gas. If you want to cruise, just keep it in the lower rpms and you won't hear it until you start going uphill.
LOVE IT.

I have the quietest C-6 ever produced. It has all the sound of a hearse.
Therefore I am slowly going insane trying to figure out what I want.
Just an observation

You can have the same catback sound 20 different ways with all the variables... Different cams, headword, intake, headers, cats, no cats, hiflow cats, blower car, big cube car.
I've had the same Borla catback throughout my setups and each time it sounded different.. Cam only, Blower and Cam and now a 427 motor only.
Its sounds the best now with the 427 and high flow cats... its burples each time on decel and inbetween shifts... cant get enough of it!

Have you considered C5Z titanium exhaust. Sounds like it might fill your needs? They are real nice at cruising speeds and sound real nice wot. You can find them all around I even have a pair with 10k on it they look new still never seen rain.

I would consider Borla's Type S II.
I do have the TI's with headers, cam and vortech superchager. I would say it's a decent but way to tame sound. I'm getting bored with them. I think they sound too lame.
