Thinking of selling '00 coupe to get 03-04 ZO6, bad idea or not? opinions wanted pls.
My 2000 C5 coupe has been been my daily driver for the last 6 years, and just shy of 100k miles. Lately I've been thinking of selling my C5 and getting into a low mile 2003-04 ZO6. I just really like the looks of the ZO6, and 6 years ago they were out of my price range.
I guess I'm on the fence about purchasing a car that is only a few years newer than the one I currently own. A few post have also mentioned finding parts for the C5 is getting harder.
What do you guys think, is it crazy to purchase a ZO6 only a few years newer than my coupe?
My price range will be around $25k, and I bet I can buy a pretty nice Z. My biggest concern is finding parts, especially expensive electronic parts if and when they are needed.
I know it's my decision but just wanted some thoughts from other members. I guess I could always go for a C6 but in a few years I may be wishing for a C6 ZO6. I'm always a day late and a dollar short! Haha

I went from a '00 to an '03 C5 - no regrets. If you've wanted a Z, get one. With the budget you mention, you should be able to find a really nice, low mileage Z06.

I was looking on Auto Trader today and I cant believe some of the prices for those model year Z's now. Upper 20's and low 30's. Guess I missed something lately.

The aftermarket is still robust for all C5s...C5Z included. GM made a zillion C5s and I haven't seen too many issues getting parts. The C5Z isn't in a LT5 ZR-1 scenario...I would do it.

Consider putting your car up for sale at your price while you look. If you get your price, the older C5 is gone for your money. Then you can look for a newer C5 with lower miles or find the Z. Those Z prices are inflated right now, probably will come closer to the $25K you want to spend. AND while yours is up for sale, and if you find your Z for $25, buy it and consider lowering your price on the current car. You're in a good place with lots of options to consider.

I had a '99 vert I sold at the end of last summer. Replaced it a few weeks later with an imaculate '03 Z06 with 21K miles for $22K, from a private party. You should be able to find a sweet Z in your price range if you shop just a bit. Stay away from the dealers, the prices there are very inflated.
Good luck. You will love the Z.

In order to be at $25k to spend on the newer car is including the cash I would get from the sale of my C5. So not keeping it. Whatever I buy will be my daily driver and an 04 Z would be awesome.
Yeah dealers are way to high... would only buy from private party.

I say mod your 2000. At 100k miles, the engine is just getting broken in. for the extra money u spend on a low mileage z, you could buy an m12 trans, new suspension, 243 heads and a new cam and probably still save money.
