Don't drink and drive mother F***ers
I got a DUI back in 09 before ever owning the Vette. Well it finally got found out by insurance and adjusted for...
Long story short I went from $1,100 a year for full coverage, to $2,500 a year! I am very sorry to say... that its time to sell the Vette... Dropping down to liability only saves $600 off that price. And Im not driving this car in southern cali on liability.
A a 4-door 4-banger... fate has spoken for now...
Its been fun guys... Ill drop in form time to time. God D***it this sucks!

Wise words, however it's not the only consideration.
Case in point, I just got off the phone with "the lizard" after asking them why my premium went up (again) $50 for the next 6 months while my cars are each a year older and I have had no tickets or claims.
Their response was that they were granted a rate increase in the state of Florida. Socialism at it's best!!!! However, I can reduce my premium by reducing my coverage. Hmmm....Pay you more for the same service or pay you less and reduce my coverage.
Gone are the days when you pay an initial premium and the cost goes down every year based on depreciation and your individual driving record.
In today's market, costs go up based on how much the company is paying out to insure everyone, including the bad drivers.
OP - Good luck. I know many of us have had to learn difficult life lessons the hard way.

When i got a dui in 2000 my insurance went from $1000 to $6000 per year. To be honest its the best thing that ever happened to me. Have never drank and drove since that incounter.

Before jumping ship you might just want to contact your insurance company and see how long they are going to surcharge your rates for the DUI. The fact that they didn't find out about it until now is on them, not you, although I am surprised that you didn't have to file a SR22 to get your license back. Also keep in mind that even after they stop charging your for the DUI, your rates probably still won't go back to what you're accustomed, because you're still a higher risk driver and have lost whatever discounts you may have previously enjoyed.

If you've not had another ticket since 09, I'd try two or three other insurance companies. There's a good chance another firm only goes back three years and doesn't care about 2009.
If you've had another moving violation, then some firms look further back to look for a trend. That's when you've got a real problem.

I grew up when there were a lot less of us. You could drive legaly with a beer in your hand. Things have changed, I had a DWI, never again. Times have changed! Too dangerous with all of the bad drivers out there?

You said it for me and it's a good thing you did because if I would have said it , the words wouldn't be allowed to be printed on here.

A $120 a month increase is pretty lucky considering the circumstances if you ask me. Not to mention the last 3 1/2 years in which your insurance company never even discovered it in the first place. An extra $120 a month is going to break you? Is your car paid for? Make sure you get quotes on anything before you buy, because if you move into a newer car (seeing that C5's are 9-16 years old) the difference in insurance costs may be smaller than you think.

I see lots of people saying about this 3 year rule, but I'm thinking there's more to it than that. First, his current insurance company just got done looking back past 3 years. Then, what insurance company is going to write someone without checking into anything? I'd say it's more likely the new insurance company will look than the current one. Hey, I might be wrong...
I was going to ask the same thing TorchRedRocket did. Is the extra hundred bucks a month really gonna be the difference? I know this, it would not be enough to get me into a Civic... Just going from memory, but I thought you had a pretty well modded up car. That's got to be more money than this insurance hike. Not trying to talk you into being car-poor, but like mentioned above also, a newer 4cyl 4 door might not save you a ton of cash.
In PA, most moving violations score points on your license. After a year of clean driving, 3 pts come off. After 3 years of no points, you're considered clean. Yours might need a few more years to come clean if they use a similar system. I'd be asking (again, as suggested above) how long this surcharge is going to be on there.

You and OldC5 are being a tad judgemental. While DUI is a serious offense, it is also a law that can get responsible drinkers that are not drunk, not even close. i am the furthest thing from a drinker and I had a DUI 15 years ago. It was a traffic stop and a total railroading by the cops. This is not a complaint, just a statement that not all of those convicted on DUI are "drunk" drivers.
