2 Owners but only half of maintenance history?

2 Owners but only half of maintenance history?
I'm seriously considering a 99 Corvette in a neighboring state. It has 60k miles 2 owners but this owner only has maintenance history for the last 30k miles as that's when they purchased the car from the dealer.
Everything else looks to be in quite good condition except a 1" tear in driver seat.
Should I be wary?

Some of us buy our cars with nothing but the GM computer records and a CarFax. I think your ahead of the game if you have any owner records. If I had a choice of recent records or early records, I'd rather have the recent records.

I'm the second owner of my 04. The first 9000 miles I checked the dealer records, the last 20k I've done all my own maintenance. I keep everything logged in a notebook as to whats been done.

Having the records for the most current miles is great! It will tell you if the second owner had to fix any of the first owners issues.
When I talk to someone about buying their car, I ask this simple question; if you were to keep the car, what three things would you do to it? You'd be amazed at some of the answers I got. The answers ranged from trivial like buy a new shifter boot or replacing tires, to more serious like rebuilding the transmission. All of these were on cars listed as "excellent condition". The guy with the transmission problem told me he had problems getting into 3rd and 4th gear so he would just skip them. That simple question saved me considerable time because I eliminated the really bad choices with just a phone call.
I wound up buying a high mileage car but the documentation and condition of the car spoke for themselves. It has been flawless for the 25K miles I've driven it.

But..... do a little research on the Forum about what problems to look for when buying a C5. There are some good threads and members there to help ya.

Sounds like a good deal though with low miles for a 99. Good luck!
