Pricing right now on c5
Is it just me or has pricing on the forum for sale thread been really high the last month? On craigslist its even more laughable. Like regular c5 with 80k for 17k or zo6 with 50k for 27,000 dollars. I think the kbb values are significantly skewing the marketplace at this time. Maybe the summer market is fueling some of this. I dont believe that people are getting near these prices at the actual sell. Personally I would pay 16-18k for z06 with 70-100k and 12-13k for a c5 70-100k. I'll be waiting it out, but it is humorous sometimes to see the prices that people come up with on this forum and Craigslist.
Just a few examples...
20K for a 2000 c5 coupe auto with 80K no mods.
22K for 2001 vert auto with 88K no mods.
27K for 2004 C5 coupe auto with 28K no mods
16K for 2000 C5 coupe auto with 110K a few bolt ons
15K for 2001 z06 with 100K stock with Rebuilt title
26K for 2004 z06 with 60K minor bolt ons...
Just keeps going....

Who among us don't think that our own unique touches don't merit some additional financial appreciation from a future buyer?
Asking price and selling price are often very, very different and the unrealistic ones simply move to the back pages . . .

Whenever i need a good morning laugh, i just browse craigslist for a moment and see things like an 03 Base C5 with 49k miles for 25k. When you can find a nice z06 for 15-18k, Base c5's should be NOWHERE near the price of z06s let alone exceed them. Thats like selling silver for more than gold

Summertime prices are always high. I'd check autotrader. 2yrs ago I brought my 2006 C6 for 25K. Came w aftermarket Pioneer DVD head unit, speakers & a Borla exhaust. Only had 68k miles.
Keep looking.👀

I have 04 z06 with 33,000 miles for sale for $28,000 with over a $1000 of extras. I checked the auction prices. An 04 z witk 47,000 miles sold wholesale for $27,250, another 04 z 36,745 miles went for $26,400. They will ask $4000 over that. I can't get anybody to look at a wholesale price on my car.

I'm in no rush, I'll wait till winter again if I have too. Like CQRT said, the asking price and actually selling prices are probably very different. KBB represents a majority of the problem because people use it to set prices. It's the same on other forums like NASIOC where Subaru STIs are grossly overvalued by KBB. Its a waiting game, I see great deals come along a few times a month so just be patient.

Maybe street cars are up... racecars are down.
My 02 Z06 road race prepped has a full cage, coilovers, race seat, new vinyl wrap and many other things and it has had no interest in it with the price now set at $21,000.

I believe the C7 has something to do with the prices rising on the C5's . The C7 is a whole different kind of corvette and not everyone likes it . The C5's are the best styling that we have seen in a long time and still look like a traditional corvette. I say if you want one , better buy it now because I see them becoming in even more demand in the future and summer is coming so watch for an increase , especially in the drop tops..

I could be a repeat of history.
The C2 was much more popular than the C3 once the C4s were introduced.
Now the C5 may be more desired than the C6 once the C7 has been introduced.
Thus,,is the C-7 the new C-4?

Not complaining, just noting that prices have been high recently. I will buy one once I find the right deal, I'm not in the habit of overpaying because I want something. I was just generating conversation on an issue that I thought was interesting.

C5 prices eventually had to reach a price floor, and I believe we have reached that time. The prices can only keep plummeting for so long before they level out. And I don't think C5's will ever reach the price point of C4's. I think 100k+ mile c5's will still bring 10 grand, vs 7 grand or so for a similar c4.
Dealers around here are still asking $30k for low mileage (<30k miles) C5z's.

I just purchased a 2002 Coupe with 27K miles for $19,500.00. One owner vehicle who traded it in for a 2013. Car was only taken out on weekends. I paid $3K for a comprehensive bumper to bumper warranty for 3yrs/36K miles. The warranty will only last me about 2 years based on the fact I plan on using the car as my daily driver. I had been shopping around for about 3 months and finally found the car I wanted in excellent shape for a fair price.
