Most anyone on this forum will tell you not to go with that intake. I agree for the most part. Though I do believe some power can be made, it will only be a little bit. This is because of "heat soak". The stock intakes are plastic and do not heat the air like a metal intake would. That is why everyone on a budget goes with an LS6 intake, or those going more all out choose a FAST intake. Keeping the plastic style is the best way to go. Avoids heat soak, keeps the weight down, and both the LS6 and the FAST intakes are known to have an incredible design in the way they flow. There are also many experienced porters for FAST intakes now.

you probably have a massive vacuum leak somewhere.

It's been awhile since I put my BBK intake on but if you left off a vacuum line or if maybe you left out a intake gasket (they are individual). I like the intake by the way, looks cool and performs better....

As has been stated, probably not worth the extra $$$ over an LS6 intake performance wise, and definitely not worth the $$$ performance wise when you can get an LSX intake.

That being said, if you're also into show and not just go, a BBK or other polished aluminum intake would certainly compliment other polished pieces like a throttle body, or a polished supercharger and polished tubing. And the hit to performance via heat-soak wouldn't exactly be tremendous unless you frequent the strip often and are after every last .10

The bbk intake is based on ls1 intake design.
ex: it has a giant hole right in front for egr on pre 2001 models. You have to use the supplied gasket and block off plate. Plate alone wont do it.

You shouldn't need sealeant on any intake gaskets. Make sure all vac hoses are secure. You can hear a vaccum leak that big easy...even over cam and exhaust.

Heat soak is a minimal issue IMO. Air moves too fast to heat soak much. Also, aluminum intakes don't blow apart with nitrous backfires. So if you run or plan NOS, I always recommend aluminum over composite
