Targa top: Transparent or Body Color?
Just curious what you guys prefer? When I bought my car, it had the transparent top, and I have since switched to the body-colored top. I personally like the body colored top. I think it gives the car a sleeker look with a more defined roofline instead of a fishbowl. Plus I can actually now touch the steering wheel if my car has been sitting outside in the 90 degree heat!

I have both the transparent and a black top for my red 99 Vette. I usually use the black top. About a week ago I saw a red painted top, in excellent condition, on Craigslist for $150 and just couldn't resist. So now I have 3 tops.

I had a glass top on my C4. Happy to have a painted top on the C5. The clear top is noisier and much hotter in the summer. Any time I want a see though roof I take off the lid. Unless you have a black car, the painted top looks better. I would never go back.

My '99 had both tops and in all honesty, I used the transparent top probably 99% of the time I had the car. But, my '03 only has the transparent top and last summer when it was so hot I sure wish I had the solid top. I would like to get a solid one so that should the weather dictate I would have something that would keep the car a bit cooler.

I have and use both. Painted top through the summer, and transparent during the winter. The transparent top is great in the winter for the same reason that it sucks in the summer: keeps the car warmer inside when the sun is out.

$150 for a targa top is a smokin' deal!

I've had both tops for my Corvette's since 1990. I used to change to the glass top in the cooler months. I've only had the glass top on my 04 once since I've owned it. That's been almost nine years. My next Corvette will only have the painted top.

I like the dark look of the transparent top from the outside better, thinking of getting a black wrap put on my painted top to see how it looks.

Ordered the 98 with both tops. The painted top has been on the car for the last 15 years, the transparent top about 15 hours.
I think the transparent tops look better on dark colored cars where the contrast in colors in not that apparent. After that comes the issues of additional heat, sun glare and increased noise levels adding to the decision to use or not use the glass top.
