Jax's Blue Angel - pics with new setup
Ok, after about a month delay of being swamped at work, traveling and having the flu for a week, I have finally gotten a few pics of my new setup. The new setup has upgraded PRC 227 heads plus new TSW Nurburgring wheels and Potenza S04 Pole Position tires.
PRC 227 Heads - I am now at 450hp to the ground and she is behaving nicely at idle and low rpm (ThumperNC exactly predicted my rwhp well in advance just by seeing the list of parts. Pass Time contestant??). I also did the Anti-Venom shifter mod . I am satisfied with this amount of power to the wheels but I am already thinking I may be looking into SC at some point. We shall see. Anyway, for a vert she's pretty solid and will already do much more than to where I will probably ever push the envelope. You can only go so fast on the heavily trafficked roads here in North Florida. I really want to drive out west but not sure when that may be.
TSW Nurburgring Wheels - I have warmed up to the look of my wheels. I feel they have modernized an almost 12 yr old car. I particularly like the combination of machined steel spoke face with gunmetal side spokes and barrel. The good news is that the gunmetal hides dirt much better than chrome which I had before. The bad news is that these Nurburgrings are not easy to clean. It takes me at least twice as long as my prior C6 5 spoke wheels did.
Potenza S04 Pole Position - Possibly the piece I am most stoked about. At brand new and full tread I can push all the way through each gear and no slipping. These are 280A compared to my former 180A and it sure makes a difference. In addition to excellent grip, these tires are also very quiet and comfortable. The Pole Positions have such a small sidewall that applying tire jelly almost requires a Q-Tip . The rear view of the Pole Position 305/30/19 looks good! Honestly I think I may go to a tire with a little more sidewall next time but if these tires last pretty well then it will be hard for me to want to get anything else. There is definitely nothing else that performs like this in the price range of the Pole Position. I want to try RE-11's but they are a price level higher and honestly, I couldn't be happier with these Pole Positions for the price. Again, I need to see how long they last.

Nice combo with the TSWs...I may move to that tire soon. You've got 30 series in the rear, and 35 up front, right?

The tire seems to be a champ at that price. I really like the RE-11 too but I want to see how both tires wear and what Toque reports as the RE-11's wear on. We installed the tires at the same time and have similar rwhp levels, 450-470, so we will be able to make a good price/performance comparison on the tires in a year or so.
