Default Tire Report -- Michelin Pilot Super Sport

Had these tires on my Z06 for roughly 400 miles and here is the report.

Had Perelli P Zeros on before. The Perelli's ran pretty well and held well under hair pin curves. The bigger problem was traction control at the rear. If I nailed th car in second, they would spin. I am talking anything over 3500 RPM with traction control fully engaged. If I went to Competitive mode, the rear end would slide along with the tire smoke.

I could not stand the fact that my bud's 01 Z06 stock would stay on my rump at full run. It was the tires, that would not give me the traction I needed. So even though I had some life in the Perelli's time for a change.

Debated on tires, but knew I wanted Michelins. Looked at the PS2s, which are being phased out. They were about $ 400.00 higher for a set of the PS/2s over the Pilot Super Sports. After lots of reading, decided to go with the Super Sports.

Let me tell you, night and day difference in performance and drivability. The first thing I noticed is how quiet these tires are. No tire noise and I can speak in normal tones in the Z06 now. Second thing I noticed, was nail it in 2nd, and no more tire spin. Third thing is hitting the curves hard. No break away, perfect stick.

If you are looking for new shoes, I highly recommend the Michelin Pilor Super Sports. Better than stock Goodyears, better than Perellis, and not too bad of a price. I got all four including mounting, balancing, and alignment for 1500.00 out the door. Come with a 30K warranty.

P.S. I am not running stock tire sizes or wheels. My wheels are SSR GT1, and I am running 265/35 18s up front and 295/30/19 rears.

At a slightly lower level (at least cost wise), I noticed all of these same imporvements moving from Hankooks to Bridgestone Potenza Pole Positions. I love my Bridgestones, quiet, soft, comfy, sticky - love it!

I did want the RE-11's but a couple tire people told me they thought the Pole Position was pretty equal but considerably cheaper. I know RE-11's are the auto-cross tire of choice for many. I saved a little and went with the Pole Positions and I'm happy.

Toque just put on RE-11's so maybe he will reply here for his early reviews.

Michelin Pilot Super Sport is one of the best tire especially for the price they are!

my buddy has them on his brand new 2012 mustang 5.0L manual with 3.73 gears

he gets dead on traction from 1st gear!

ALL new tires are quieter and have better traction than a set of worn out junk.

I have had them a year now and love them. Quiet, tread wear is showing that these are going to last a lot longer then my Pirelli's, good bite and even in our rain up here in WA hold good. Highly recommend and when I need a new set will not consider another type!

I had a pretty good mildy camaro H/C/I etc., and I had put these same tires on the camaro, tire size 275/45/17 and I could punch through every gear, not break loose. Loved them! I am going to put these same tires on my Vette soon enough!

4,000,000 miles would be solid for a set of Vette tires

I have about 3000 miles on my Pilot Super Sports with 265/35/18s in front and 305/30/19s in back. They're quiet enough, but honestly they're not as quiet as my previous setup which included Goodyear Supercar EMTs up front and Michelin Pilots in back, and those were about wornout. Otherwise traction is great & I'm hoping for good treadwear. Keep in mind they're Summer tires not suited for below freezing or certainly snow.

I highly doubt they would hold traction for me in anything less than 3rd or 4th gear, but maybe I could convince my old man to upgrade to these for one of his C5's.
