Hey guys, I went to get some lab work done today and parked next to a very clean 2009 C6. Started taking a few pics for comparison and noticed a guy watching me. He was like "Hey man nice ride, want to trade?!?" He then asked what year mine was and I told him a 97'. His jaw about dropped!!! Also got a new windshield decal, needing some opinions on it. I like it so far for $9.99 and makes it look a bit more aggressive.
Unlike the debates and insulting jabs that are raging in the C7 section comparing and blasting different Corvette generations, I like all clean Corvettes and all generations offer a unique driving experience.
I give the improved performance nod to the C6, but from a pure looks standpoint, I like your C5 better! Your C5 looks very clean, however I'm not a fan of window decals. Probably due to the fact that when I lived in Illinois, I had to run four different stickers on my windshield and I love that I can now roll completely clean in Florida!
I just wanted to add a little more "aggressive" look to the car from the front, and they were $9.99 so I figured I could easily peel it off if and or when I don't like the look. I've always loved the C6 and have considered upgrading until I really sat in one, it honestly felt way more "plasticky" compared to my c5 which I fit nice and snug into. I do like the subtile rear wing on the C6 and would love to get one that style for my C5 in carbon fiber.
I love the red C5, but like some I'm not a big fan of big CORVETTE across the windshield, cause it's on the car about half dozen times already.... front bumper, rear bumper, passenger air bag cover, Rear logo, front logo, each logo on wheels, steering wheel, need I go on? Oh...and I added 3 more logo's myself.
Amazing how much the lines are similar. I never noticed it as much as in these pictures.
I am already much more excited about the C7 than I ever was about the C6. Maybe I'm just an odd-number Corvette generation kind of guy. The first Corvette I ever saw was my uncle's 1972 C3!
Overall, the C5 is a smoother, more coordinated design. It flows well from nose to tail without looking disjointed or contrived.
I like the tail 4-6" of the C6 better than the C5, as well as the first few inches of the front, especially the intake area. I think that's what makes the Tigershark grill so popular on C5s.
