Wheel Weight
I've seen this discussed sporadically, and a search did not provide what I'm looking for.
Is there a 'list' of wheels which includes their weight, perhaps in some kind of ascending or descending order? How do aftermarket wheels compare in weight to stock Z06 wheels?
Thanks!

Ill go first .....
When I purchased my Z it had aftermarket wheels... I Forged
Since then I have purchased Replica 09 Spyders and yes they are some what heavier than the others I took off the car ... As for the performance of the car there is no difference , maybe with huge tires that I now have it may corner a little better ... As your going to find from members like BK and a few others their thoughts are as mine , do you want to spend
4000.00 or do you want to spend 2000.00 ? That's a question that you have to decide ...
Good luck with your quest ...

Chas, in my experience most aftermarket wheels are heavier than stock wheels. GM specced (sic) all Z06 parts as light as possible. The CCW Classics are one of the few wheels that lighter than stock, but not by much. Probably a pound or two at the most.

I found this little gem on the internet:
http://teamspeed.com/forums/aventado...orsepower.html
They did some dyno runs with different wheels on.
To sum it up, the difference was about 1hp/tq gained for each pound saved on a single wheel.
I.e., if you switch from 20 lb wheel/tires to 19lb wheel/tires, then you in theory gain 1 hp/tq.
In reality the difference is smaller than that, because of how a dyno measures power. Its probably about 1/2hp. Wheel size also comes into play. Larger wheels have a more exaggerated effect. Going from 20lb 18" wheels to 20lb 19" rims will cost you some hp, I'm not sure how much though.
So yes, putting 30lb aftermarket cast wheels in place of 20 lb stock wheels will cost you power, but only 5hp or so.
Depends on whether you think 5 or so hp is worth the extra $2000 of going forged. But of course Forged wheels offer more than just lighter weights, they generally look better and are stronger.
Another thing that I noticed, are stock Camaro wheel/tires really 72 lbs??? That seems really high, I was expecting more like 40lbs.
