opinions needed on upgrading stock c5 performance
Hi, I just bought a 2002 Corvette base model and am really into performance, mainly for autocross style racing. It is my daily driver but I want it to handle amazing on the corners and I'm willing to give up some street manners. I currently am getting tsw nurburgring 18/19 wheels and wrapping them with 275/35/18 & 305/30/19 pilot sport P2's. And I was looking at getting C5 Z06 leaf springs, C6 Z06 Shock dampeners, C6 sway bars and poly urethane bushings. I am a college student, so I am on a limited budget, so no Pfadt suspension or super chargers sadly.... any ideas are greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Brett

Drifting
With a limited budget, these 2 items might be all you need to crush it at autox. If you keep your stock wheels and just put better tires on, I think this would stay within a reasonable price range...maybe
coilovers (1025)

sways (625)

Burning Brakes
Don't buy anything, learn to drive the car first, then go from there.
Especially don't buy expensive, functionally useless wheels and expensive tires if you're on a limited budget...

Safety Car
Autocross has a bunch of different classes doesn't it? The more you "tinker" with bits determines which class you run in...
If your looking to be competitive maybe decide on which class you plan on running, then mod (or don't) to that...

When I went with c6 zo6 sways and metal end links it made a huge difference in cornering. Cheap upgrade for such a huge difference.
I would lower your car on the stock bolts. Free upgrade.
The coil overs seem to make people go ate crazy trying to dial them in right

Thanks for the ideas guys. I ride sports bikes too and take them both to the edge just starting to slide in corners, I'm not saying that I don't need practice, I believe everyone needs more practice, otherwise pros wouldn't practice. I'm just looking to get something that will keep my vette flatter on corners and keep it stuck to the road. And does anyone know good drives in Oregon? I know PIR is our track but it's exspensive.
Thanks,
Brett
