When I was replacing my stock rims, HREs were my first choice. Unfortunately, my wallet said "NO!"

Thats a pretty broad statement.. More of an opinion, which everyone is entitled to...
Obviously the guy is considering some high end wheels for his CORVETTE... Some here are probably even capable of managing their money AND purchasing high end parts for their cars... Me being one of them.
Suckers are in fact born everyday... and some even drive Corvettes...
Back to the OP... HRE seems to be the flavor of the day.. Keep us posted...

One quick thing...
I think that when it comes to wheels the owner has to like them enough to spend the money and be able to live with them for a while- depending on how you drive this car would determine how much I would spend on wheels. Wheels specially as you go +1 or 2 or more are not cheap. I'm debating this myself. My 540s are a bit dated and heavy; there are better wheels outthere right now. But with the $6-7K it would cost me to get the ones I want in the dimensions I need, I could do a few other things as well. All about give and take.
I'm thinking about taking the wheels off and getting them professionally repolished and cleaned up, maybe even refinishing the center and hold on to them a little longer.

That is an excellent idea... I would like to send mine off to HRE and have them Powdercoated Black like some of the new one previously pictured... Definitely a consideration as i highly doubt i will ever part with these..

Wasn't calling anyone in particular a name, however, there are tons of members here who agree with me, that it is odd to put half the value of the car into wheels...only salvation is if you sell the car you can get at least half your money back as long as you keep your old wheels. Now, on a new C7 it would make sense!

I have rivets on mine but I do like the clean look without them. When I was wheel shopping a long long time ago I don't believe you could get forged wheels unless they were 3 piece. At least that's what I recall.

Hate to say it but my favorite have always been a design just like the C5 Z06 rims, think these are HRE's 541R's.
However, it think it would be hard to reproduce the same look on a stock C5 without tubs or flared fenders.

You may be able to find local business that can take care of it. I found this one near where I live and they can do everything. I would save a bit of $$ on shipping by being able to drop off.

I'm sure you can find something similar in your neck of the woods.
