Impact of +1 Wheels on Ride Quality
Trying to decide which way to go with wheels. As you know, many of the nice looking, quality wheels are not available in 17/18. If I go to 18/19, I want to keep the wheel diameters close to stock to avoid speedomenter error. Therefore, the tires will be lower profile. If I fit non-run flats of the appropriate size on 18/19 wheels, how harsh will that make the ride?
Many thanks,
Joe

When I went from the stock rims 17"/18" run-flats to rims 18"/19" regular tires, it was an improvement. In-other-words, it was less harsh on bigger rims.

I should say that I'm on the Michelin ZP AS plus tires right now, so as I understand it I'm already enjoying a ride improvement over the OEM Goodyears. Thus I had more concern about erosion of ride quality in going to bigger wheels.

I've run 19/19 and 19/20 on my C5s and really didn't notice any decrease in ride quality. A good set of tires helps, especially if you go with non-runflats which offer more flexibility in the ride.

Haha I just switched to +1 wheels and mounted these tires on them. It now rides like a Cadillac (for good and bad). I ended up setting my shocks to the stiffness recommended for the track and it's still super plush. Kinda funny. If I didn't have track wheels with real performance tires I would probably be a bit disappointed. Now it's just nice not to feel the terrible roads as much.

My ride quality improved compared to my stock sized Z06 GY SuperCar tires. I thought it would get rough with the 19/19, but it was just the opposite !
