I don't think C5 will ever be at the same level as the C4.
The C5 started the modern era of the high performance LS engines, and still has huge aftermarket.
The C5 design was revolutionary compared to the C4, and shared no parts with the C4. I believe the C6 used 20% of the C5's parts.
Having said that, i the C7 is a step in the right direction. That is the car that should have replaced the C5, instead of the C6.

I will have a C7 next to my FRC one day. The FRC for fun weekends when I need 800hp. The C7 for my daily driver.

The C4 was revolutionary in its day, and had great exterior styling, but my C5 doesn't require tools to remove the targa top, doesn't have a video game dashboard, and doesn't require my creaky old bones to do gymnastics to enter and exit. And it has an LS1.

With the C7 reveal complete, will the C5 now become the new C4 in terms of aftermarket parts, services, etc.?
It appears the earlier Jalopnik "leak" was dead on and the new C7 has really moved the ball forward for GM. Only time will tell whether the new aggressive design will prove successful.
I think the C7 took a greater step forward from the previous generation than the C6 did from the C5, often to the point where I referred to the C6 as the "C5.5".
Any C5 owners running out to the dealerships this week to get on the C7 buy list?!
I plan to keep my C5 vert, however I am more excited about the C7 than I was when the C6 made its debut. Definitely would like to add a C7 Z06 to the stable someday...

While I am interested in perhaps having one, I need to see it in person and I will not be running out to a dealer to be an early adopter. I also certainly would not be getting rid of my C5.

to all of this. The LS1 was a HUGE step forward for small block Chevys. That alone will keep the C5 above C4 status. It's also the only one with the FRC look, since the C6 never offered that look.

After watching the revel last night, I want a C7 more than before. But it also made me go hop in my C5 for a ride to remind me how much I love my C5. When I got my C5 I could have purchased a C6 but the body still doesn't trump a C5 to me, Neither does the C7.
All the same i will wait a year or two & trade in my DD make the C7 my DD for all its creature comforts & technology they integrated into it.... The C5 will never leave my possession

Couldn't have said it better. No doubt these are great bang for the buck, but they really will depreciate to the previous C3 levels. The C4s are still on their way. I know of two C4s near me that are rotting away under tarps. Sad really, but Its just the natural cycle.

Well, obviously. It doesn't have all that because it is a C5, not a C4. Wouldn't you EXPECT each generation to be better?

And I know of three around me that are in pristine shape and do the Corvette name proud.

It'll be great for collector car status, but parts will get harder and harder to come by for that LT-5, and you'll find less and less shops willing to work on them. Great for Barret Jackson auctions in a few years. Great to show off in the garage. But they won't be on the road anywhere near like their brothers.

I don't wave to C4s. I wave to C3s tho.
I am underwhelmed by the C7 styling. I expected more somehow. Interior isn't bad.
More interesting is that the LS engine is now old.
Direct Injection is the new thing now.

Believe me, i am a sucker for all Corvettes! My passion started with my dads triple black 88 convertible. If i had the money, i would buy the two that i see and give them another chance. I even talked to my neighbour to do something about his. Old tires holding down the tarp and weeds/grass to the top of the wheel wells. I can only imagine how damp it is in there.

Simple and to the point!
I couldn't agree more! I dont see the C5 loosing value like the C4. I saw a "running project" C4 on craigslist for $1500 today. I think you could sell the running gear for more than that...
