Great video and father son project. Where did you find a NEW LS6 ?? The crate motors have been gone for a long time?

Found it locally on Craig's. owner had bought it for a resto mod project for old school Chevy truck but decided to go a different route. It came as a ctsv ls6 so we just swapped out the oil pan and headers from the ls1.
Now I have another project to find something for this LS1 to go in. Geeze these mods are never ending.

Did you take the steering rack out? How much easier would it be with the drivetrain, steering rack removed and no heads on the motor? I am awaiting my new motor to finished and I have had the drivetrain built and I don't know which way I want to pull the motor. This makes the top not look so bad.

We didnt need to remove the steering rack. We lowered the front cradle so the oil pan would clear. Then disconnected shft from flywheel hub and slid the engine foreward. If you are strpping engine down to block and have drivetrain out that should go pretty easy coming out the top. The more you remove the easier it would be but dont make more work for yourself if you dont have to.

Ok cool. I have sold everything such as cam, heads, and all to pay for my new build so its all off the car. Only thing left is the condensers, block, oil pan, and bell housing.

Awesome video. I just pulled mine from the top without lowering the front suspension, holy cow it was a tight fit I never thought we would get it out or back in. Great father son project.
