Another Wind Whistle/Noise Question
My '98 never had a wind noise issue until last week. I had the driver's side regulator professionally replaced by the auto body shop that was doing a minor bumper repair. Since then an extremely loud, unbearable whistle occurs over 60 mph. I read through this thread...
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-t...-window-2.html
and have copied the "Tip In" adjustment directions to take to the auto body shop. You guys have always been extremely patient with my questions in the past, but please don't tell me to do this repair myself as I'm a 40ish woman who has no idea what the "window regulator front channel mounting nut " or the "jack screw jam nut" looks like.
I'm sure he'll charge me for this repair, so before I spend more money on this window is there anything else it could be?
Thanks!

I would say the tip-in needs adjusting. I have had 2 regulators replaced, and had to fine tune them myself to keep the wind noise out. I have heard you should be able to tightly pull a $1 bill though when it is adjusted properly. I didn't try this, just the "drive and see if it is still noisy" method.
The adjustments are on the underneath side of the door, and are easy to adjust yourself, if you change your mind about not doing it. I got some reverse torx bits from harbor freight.

I would agree that if the noise wasn't there before the repair, they should adjust the window tip-in at no charge. Hope that is what the problem is.
