Default Need help to fall back in love with my Z?

I have had my 03 Z for almost 4 years now. All it has done for the past 6 months now is sit in the garage. I drive it maybe once every few weeks. I love the car. I just don't have the time to drive it or wash it. It just sits. My wife always tells me to drive it, I just blow her off. What can I do to change the way I treat the car?

Any advice would be great.

For me it's two items. First you have to have a good sound system, I have iPod connection so I can listen to my music. Second you have to have a nice cam, LS motors love more cam and it makes it so much fun to drive. I always drive alone but with the music and performance it's a thrill.

I have been wanting a can for a while now, but I have had other priorities. I have upgraded the sound inside the car already.

Your wife is correct, just drive it. Ditch the daily driver for a while.

The "I don't have the time" excuse just doesn't cut it - it's nonsense similar to people who want to shed some pounds, but, "don't have the time".

blakonblackZ06,

Sell it!

Become un-bored & now have some extra jingle in your pocket.
End of problem.

Your happy & now some one else would be happy.
Not hard to figure that one out.
Oh... Your welcome.

Do you REALLY love the car? With all due respect, I don't think so. If you did, why would you be here asking how to fall back in love? /Dr. Phil/

I actually agree with bumble-z. Sell it. All great things must come to an end. Maybe your priorities in life have changed. Who knows.

Whatever the reason, you're just not into it anymore. Find something else that you're passionate about.

Exactly. Try living in the N.E. where there is snow/ice/rock salt on the road for 4 months out of the year. The only good part is it feels like driving it for the first time once springtime comes

Sounds like you need to some new mods. Exhaust/cam something to waken it up a bit.

Go to an open track day or at least an autocross. You'll find a whole new level of love and respect for the car.

DRIVE IT ON A TRACK WITH AN INSTRUCTOR!!! as the fine folks above advised you to do.

You'll fall in love with it again for sure. I know I did, and I never even got bored with her in the first place!

Mod it...

Get a new exhaust, cam, whatever... it'll feel like a new/different car to you again and your desire to enjoy it will renew..

I go through this with my car every few years... first my car was a cam only car.. then cam/supercharged.. now it has a LS7 427 in it.. I feel like I have a different car every few years without actually going out to buy a new car and losing lots of money.

If you don't drive it, you don't love it. I have had mine for 6 years with no mods. Still love driving it. Can't afford one that is any better. 135,000 miles and still going strong!

Thanks for all the advice. I doubt I will sell it. I think I just need to get some much needed time to just drive the car.

Dear Mr. BlackonBlack Z06,
It's just like a relationship with a woman. You have to go out and have fun with her. Keeping her locked up and not using her for what she was intended is certain doom.
Fun=Love
Some guys swap wives for a little spice. Try that with the Z. Swap for a Prius for a weekend.

What are you usually driving?

Make it a DD or just sell it. Value isn't going to increase any time soon.
