New 2002 ZO6- WOW!
Just took delivery yesterday on my new 2002 Electron Blue ZO6. Still trying to sell my '99 Vert. This ZO6 is incredible! The advice you all provided was right on the money. I won't be needing my Corsa Indys any longer- the sound from the Ti's is outstanding. I didn't think that handling or acceleration could get much better than my modified '99 but it most definitely did! It is definitely an awesome car.
One question- a manual trans is new to me. What gear do you guys typically run in while in the 55-65 mph range on an Interstate? The Ti's are noisy in this mph range in 4th gear (RPM of about 2,500). I moved on to 6th gear to get rid of the noise and lower the RPM to about 1,500 rpm (comparable to 4th gear in my A4). The ride was much more pleasant. Thanks for your help. :) :) :)

Congrats on your car! I have the same one 3 weeks old and can't stop smilling! At 55-65 mph, 6th is pretty gutless so I usually run in 5th and grab 4th if I need to smoke someone. I usually grab 6th whenever I'm crusing at 70 mph or higher (we have a little more leeway in Florida).
Enjoy the car! :seeya

Congrats  I usually drive mine by ear and by feel, high enough gear that the engine is no screaming but still have a good throttle response.

Good luck with you new Z06.
If you are cruising down the highway at 45-55, there is no reason you can't keep the trans in 5th. You have more than enough torque to move up in speed gradually, and, if you have the need, there are still 2nd, 3rd or 4th depending upon your needs.
I have two modes when I drive - one is normal and the other is go for it, which I do on occasion. The rest of the time, I drive the car easy. Probably doesn't make much difference, but why make the engine work harder than it has to when your just plain old cruising.

I am sure other members drive differently. Do what makes you happy.

Picked up my '02 QS Z06 last Friday, passed 500 miles yesterday and all I can say is, "YEAH BABY!!" I was happy before I got to start pushing the engine, now the BFG is permanently attached to my face!!

Congrats! Put a huge :D on my face everytime I get behind the wheel. I use 6th a lot when on the freeway and not in a mood to race anybody. You'll find that 6th is awesome for when you just want to be inconspicuous. At any other times, the rpm goes to redline, Yeah baby yeah!
