Question1...Yes using your DIC.
!. Turn ignition on.
2. Turn radio off.
3. Press DIC RESET button.
4. Press OPTIONS until display is blank.
5. Press and hold RESET for 3 seconds.
6. Press OPTIONS until FOB TRAINING displayed.
7. Press RESET to begin programming sequence.
8. Simultaneously press and hold LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on
fob for 13 seconds. Message will appear on DIC when remote is
programmed.
9. Turn ignition off and remove key.
10. Test remote.

That's correct. Previously working fobs will no longer be programmed to your car until you complete the programming of all existing fobs in a single session. The DIC will prompt you to program a second fob and third fob if you have them. The number on the back of the fob will not make any difference to the programming. The first fob trained will become #1 regardless of the raised number on the back of the fob, etc. You can mix and match 2000 fobs with 97-99 fobs, but as stated there is no passive feature on the 2000 fobs.
