Default Color confusion

When I search colors for 2001, I see only Firethorn red listed for the interior. Yet, my 2001, as you can see, has the Torch red Sport interior. I am seriously thinking of listing this beauty of a 18K mile vert for sale and want to represent it accurately. In fact in another thread, a fellow took me to task by saying Torch Red was not a 2001 option. Yet, my window sticker and build sheet list Torch red. The Quicksilver and Torch Red are sharp and quite rare according to my research.

Currently there is one such nice 2002 vert listed in the C5 For Sale section.

Anyone? Much appreciated.

Firethorn red ended in '99 and was replaced by torch red in '00+.

Every color chart and spec sheet I can find lists the 2001 red interior as "Firethorn Red" code 70I. I looked up multiple sources.

Here's one:

Default Thanks for the info

That other fellow was clearly misinformed. I dug out the original Corvette sale brochure and it does list Torch Red.

I have been trying to find the number of Quicksilver 2001 convertibles made with Torch red interiors, but that does not seem to be officially available. One fellow says 31, but no way to verify. I know that in my travels, I have neer seen one other than the one I have. One 'elimination search I dis indicated there is no other exactly the same car as mine out there, but that encompasses exact equipment configuration. That likely holds true for a number of combinations. Any input on this?

The 2002 for sale here on the forum is the only similar one I have seen. Maybe some other forum members here have one. Think I'll post on that to see what others may have.
Thans ,again.

Simple answer, sometimes sources aren't always correct. The inaccuracies on c5registry and corvetteactioncenter have been discussed before. For example, corvetteactioncenter states "new interior color: torch red which replaces firethorn red" under their 2000 production and then on the very next page list firethorn red

My dad owned a white coupe that was either a 00-01 and it had torch red interior so I know it's legit, even if it is rare...

That puts this to rest thanks to your replys.

I don't think the Torch Red is so rare, but I am told that it was rare on the Quicksilver 2001's. All that I have seen have the black interior with the Quicksilver exterior.
The only convertible I have seen with that Torch Red/ Quicksilver combo is a 2002 for sale now here on the forum.

I put out a thread to see if anyone has one like mine.

I have a 2001 end of year build sheet from C5 Registry (hard copy). Though it does not list the exterior / interior combos, it provides total production numbers by color and Corvette model (Coupe, Vert, Z06).
Quicksilver exterior was 1572 (33%) of total convertible production (14,173); Torch Red interior was 707 (5%) of total convertible production.

Default Thanks for that.

Extrapolating from that data, one might think that no more than 60-80 Quicksilver 2001 verts with Torch Red interiors were produced and not all of them would have had Sport seating.

Anyone have one of these 2001 convertible in QS metallic over torch red Sport seating, or know anyone who does have one. Other than mine, I have yet to come upon one.

The Corvette Black Book shows torch red as an interior color from '00-04 (Firethorn Red ended in '99). Beautiful color combo you have.

Okay, but 1572 of 14,173 is 11%, not 33%.

33% (1572) of total quicksilver C5s (4822) were convertibles in 2001

Default Thanks on the color combo.

I really liked it when I saw it. The Quicksilver is a real nice variety of silver. The Torch Red sets it off nicely. I bought the car in Pa. sight useen, had it trucked into SC and have no regrets. It looks great under the lights at night. I am an old retired guy. Drive it about 5k a year. So long as I can bend myself into it, I'll keep on truckin'.

I really appreciate all the help and advice I get from my Forum friends.

The red interior really does look great with the silver, but I think the red interior just wasn't as desirable to buyers. And, as great as it looks with the red interior, I would still choose black over it...but if I could have 2 cars, one would have red interior

in the eye of the beholder. That's what makes life and us people so interesting. I just see black interiors on silver everywhere and they are nice, but I enjoy being different and a bit of an outlier. Never been one to follow the crowd. I would really like the white with the torch red. Just like the old days. I know people who would kill to have any color Vette like ours. I love em all !

Default Using the info provided by Woodman

and using my VIN, I found that only 78 Quicksilver convertibles with torch red interiors and black top were made in 2001. Only 48 A4s. That is rare enough for this poor old retired guy. Wonder how many of them have only 18K on them?
THANKS Woodman ! My quest is over.

Great investigating - very nice! I love the combo and I'd suggest keeping it. As rare as it may be and as cool as it may be, it won't fetch much more cash than a run of the mill C5. Maybe a few grand more but does that make it worth selling today?

Further, I was very close to buying a rare C3 about a year ago. I did all the same extrapolations and determined that an insanely low number of manual, '71 vettes in this particular color were ever built, not to mention still around. After all that, it was worth only about a thousand or two more than the run of the mill '71's I was looking at. Doesn't make sense to me... which is why I say hold it... the awesome factor is worth more than a couple grand...
